Mike Badgley and Justin Vogel, in my opinion, are a top-3 K/P tandem in the ACC through 3 games.
Surely, Vogel is one of the best in the ACC, if not THE best punter in the ACC... The young man is averaging about 46-48 yards per punt, his hang time has been SOLID, and he's good at "coffin corner" punting when we have to pin teams back.
Badgley...??? All he did was bang in all five Field Goals against Nebraska, TYING a SCHOOL RECORD for field goals made in a game, which included a game winner in OT. He's 9 for 10 on the year, and has made all 14 extra points.
I also love the fact that we have been BOMBING Kickoffs into the endzone and forcing teams to have to take touchbacks and start at the twenty yard line. That's been missing over the last 5-7 years, but it is finally back, and as a former Punter/Kicker myself, I am glad to see excellent Punting and Kicking form these two young men. Not since the days of Sievers and Capshaw have we had BOTH an ELITE Punter AND Kicker- can Vogel and Badgley be elite...??? That remains to be seen, but I think that they definitely have the physical skill sets to be great, and hopefully Vogel and Badgley will continue their strong performance as we enter ACC schedule in a few weeks, because make NO MISTAKE, we are going to need these two players as Specialists to win some close games against ACC opponents.
