The University of Miami men’s basketball team will play its second true road game of the season Monday night at Illinois.

Miami (4-3, 0-1 ACC) is set to take on the Fighting Illini at 7 p.m. ET at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill., as part of the 21st annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Monday’s action will be broadcast live on ESPN2 HERE, with Jason Benetti and Dan Dakich on the call. Joe Zagacki will have the radio broadcast on 560 The Joe WQAM.

The Hurricanes are 2-1 all-time against Illinois, including 2-0 under ninth-year head coach Jim Larrañaga, but this will be the first time the teams meet in Champaign. Most recently, exactly five years to the day before this upcoming matchup, Miami edged Illinois in a top-25 matchup, 70-61, in Big Ten/ACC Challenge play at the Watsco Center on Dec. 2, 2014.

This is the 13th time Miami will take part in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and it enters with an even 6-6 record, including a 5-3 mark under Coach L and a 4-1 ledger over the past five years. The Hurricanes are 2-4 on the road in the event, but have won their past two matchups away from home, defeating Minnesota in 2017 and Nebraska in 2015.

Miami is coming off a 1-2 showing at the Charleston Classic, held at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. After downing Missouri State, 74-70, in the opener, the Hurricanes fell to Florida, 78-58, in the semifinals and then to UConn, 80-55, in the third-place game. Senior guard Dejan Vasiljevic led Miami with 11 points against the Huskies, while redshirt junior center Rodney Miller, Jr., added 10.

The Fighting Illini head into Monday night’s contest at 6-1 (0-0 B1G) on the season after winning four games in a row. Illinois is led in scoring by sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu, a Preseason All-Big Ten pick, at 16.3 points per game. Last year, Illinois finished 12-21 (7-13) and did not reach the postseason.

Following its matchup with the Fighting Illini, Miami will have 11 days without a game before hosting Alabama A&M Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Watsco Center, live on ACC Network.
