Caniacs…
This is not what many of U want to read, but….
The Herald’s Susan Miller Degnan spoke with AD Dan Radakovich about the UM baseball program and he told her he plans to meet with Coach G soon to talk about the season and discuss other topics including, “extending his contract.”
Coach G took over as UM’s head coach in 2019 and next year will be the final year of his five-year contract.
While we as fans tend to complain about all the things that went wrong, Rad pointed to the following about this season:
*First time hosting a regional since 2016
*Led nation with most wins (13) over top 25 teams
*Team hit most HRs (90) since 2010
(Let me add, for all the team’s warts, UM was also one of only 2 teams in FBS to win 20 conference games.)
Speaking of warts, as for the end-of-year slide, while the AD said he was “disappointed” at how the season ended, “…taken as a whole, it was a positive step forward for our baseball program.”
What we don’t know is come meeting time: Will Rad set various expectations, require certain changes, commit to providing additional resources and/or improvements to the program.
So, there U have it. Stay tuned.
Go Canes!
