Final Update

Don't let the score fool U...it was 3-1 Gates and we had the tying run at the plate late in the game but we couldn't get the clutch hit we needed...then UF blew the game wide open scoring 5x in the top of the 9th to even the series at 1-1...

When it was over after a l-o-n-g out at the wall in LF...

The Gates celebrated on our field and their fans in the stands whoop it up while our guys in the dugout could only watch, suck it up and hopefully simmer at what could have been and come back tomorrow with fire in their bellies.

Final Score: 8-1...

Florida snaps a 3-game losing skid to the U...

FIELDING
Besides breaking the game open in the 9th...look at 2 stats above...we made 3 errors in the game, UF had a clean game defensively...and tonight, it was our turn to leave men on base...last night the Gates left 12 on base to our 4, I think. Tonight...we left 7 on base to their 1...also, Max Romero had a tough night behind the plate...his throwing error in the first led to UF's first run of the game in the first to give them a 1-0 lead.

Then in the 3rd, with 2 outs and 2 strikes on the Gator batter, we get a swing and a miss for the strikeout to end the frame, but the ball was low and bounced off the dirt and Romero lost site of the ball. By the time he found it and fired to 1st, the batter was safe. The next batter, Jud Fabian, one of their best hitters slugged a 2-run HR to give his team a 3-0 lead. The 5-spot in the 9th sealed any chance for a comeback.

RECORDS
We fall to 8-2, UF improves to 9-3...they scored 1 in the first, 2 in the 3rd on a HR and 5 in the 9th...our lone run came in the 7th when we had a chance to tie the game at 3...

PICTHING
Our relief pitching let us down after FR starter Karson Ligon went 7 inning giving up only 3 hits, striking out 8, but giving up 3 runs, only 1 earned...he deserved better from his teammates...

BATTING
While the Gates scored 5 runs from 2 HRs, both teams were not great at the plate as we struck out 13x, UF 12x.

Rubber game is Sunday at high noon...it should be a doozy...and it will also be on TV via ACCN...

I'll be back for Game 3...hope U can join me...until then, have a great rest of your weekend, Caniacs!

Go Canes!

------------------------------

Good evening Caniacs...

We're back for Game 2 at The Light in the 3- game weekend series and can tonight possibly top what happened in last night's 5-2 win.

But first, in addition to that big win, how about our men's and women's hoops teams? The men stormed back from a 14-point halftime deficit at Syracuse earlier today to knock off the Orangemen 76-72 behind Jordan Miller's 25 points. I think if UNC loses to Duke as I type, we may move to the No. 3 seed and avoid having to play Wake Forest a 3rd time.

Later on, led by Kelsey Marshall's 18 points, the women beat No. 3 seed Notre Dame 57-54 at the ACC tournament in Greensboro. This comes after coming back from a 17-point deficit yesterday to edge No. 2 seed Louisville 61-59.

The Ladies now advance to the championship game vs top-seed NCST Sunday at noon on ESPN.

What a weekend it has been so far for the Miami
Hurricanes!

Let's keep it going!

On to tonight...
