No we are just smart enough to realize that ANY ACTIONS INCLUDING SANCTIONS should have been used as a deterrent not a punishment AFTER actions by Putin. On your other point there are plenty of folks on both sides of the aisle who understand Ukraine is no Saint in this matter. They COULD HAVE chosen to conduct business with and stay sort of friendly with and neutral with Russia like Finland does. Instead their leader has been combative and antagonistic.
