The facts are that we can still win the Coastal if we win out but it would take a turnaround like no other. A Herculean task That I just do. It see happening.

I never liked the Manny hire, especially the fact thst no coaching search was done. Mario may have not been a sure thing as he was in battle at the time to win the PAC 10 and get Rose Bowl bid, but we could have easily had Kiffin who was right down the street at FAU or even Schiano that was doing nothing. But it is what it is and Diaz was our coach and had to give him a chance to prove himself.

First year was a disaster but it’s a coaches first year and Manny did show hope as he made the right moves to get rid of bad coaches and try to revamp the coaching staff, got some key transfers mainly King and like it or not, showed improvement to 8-3 with a young team. Had two very good recruiting classes. Then brought in TRob and transfers Stephenson and Rhambo. So as long as he was improving the team and showing progress, there was no reason to not hope he coukd be the guy to continue to build up this program. This was the year that you finally had an experienced OL and basically all of your players back except Jordan, Phillips and Roche. Guys like Harley and Mallory were suppose to take the next steps to be at higher level.

But after yesterday, Manny Diaz has shown thst he is not the guy and in waaaaaaay over his head. He got out coached by a average second year first time head coach. We are in year 3 of Manny and the same poor play on the field is happening. I can understand it from young team and first year of coaching. It takes time to change a team. But we are still seeing the same crap that are clear red flags of a poorly coached team:

high amount and costly penalties (seems like we are in first and 20 all the time)

Most experienced OL in college football and they still suck. Can not open up a whole in run game if their lives depended on it. Very poor and basic scheme too. Where are the pulls, tunnel screens. When was the last time you saw one of our OL get outside, move their feet and have a seal block?? When was the last time you saw a pancake block???

Drop balls continue to happen (WTF happen to Mallory?? This guy went from stud to droppingnwide open passes and probably does not start for 50% of teams in college ball)

execution mistakes being made on defense still. LB sitting back and over pursuing, thus leaving cut back wide open. mismcoverages. Not one DE can set the edge. Lot of guys just running full speed towards the QB or middle of offense and then getting ass beat to outside or in quick slants. that’s the sign of players nit prepared and with very low football IQ

no pass rush. You can not rush 6 guys like we did constantly and not get to the QB and expect our DB that lack speed to cover guys man on man. So that is poor scheme when you do nit have the Jimmy and the Joe’s on the team

Talent and depth in this team is very lopsided. We have pretty good DTs in Silvera and Hunte but absolutely no DE’s And no depth behind them. You can not play today’s college football with 6’2” 240 lbs DEs when the rest of the world is playing with 6’5” 270 lb DEs. Good safety talent and depth but nothing at corner.

offense is putrid. You can not win games scoring 17 points a game. Not sure what the hell happen to Lashlee and this team because it is basically the same players.

Love Kings heart but he is pedestrian QB. No better than Stephen Morris
With Chaney out, we have no RB’s. I had high hopes for Cam this season and he has been a disappointment.

WR not getting open, poor route combo scheme (nothing creative at all), poor Wr blocking and continued drop balls.

only bright spots are Borrelegas and Henley.

I know everyone want to fire Manny Diaz like last night but you can. It do that and give up on the season Just yet. LikemImdaid, we can still win the Coastal……. but patience needed here. Very good chance we lose AT LEAST two more games and thst should put the nail on the coffin for the Manny Diaz era.

Come November, good chance we are looking for a new coach but this will nit be a good thing. It will set us back another two or three years with whomever you hire as coach unless his name is Saban or Urban. Every other coach has taken a couple years to turn around a team. Dabo with Clemson, Fisher with Texas A&M
