Gary and many other posters on here have concluded that, without question, TVD will leave for the NFL after this upcoming season. The narrative is that Drew Rosenhaus will scoop him up, promises him riches and escort him to the League.

I don’t agree with this narrative. Here’s why:

*if TVD stays healthy and starts every game of the 2022 season, he will have started a total of 23 college games before he leaves for the NFL. Let’s compare that to other top NFL draft picks at QB:

Trevor Lawrence. 40 college games
Andrew Luck. 38 college games
Patrick Mahomes. 30 college games
Joe Burrow. 28 college games
Josh Allen. 25 college games
Trey Lance. 17 college games.

*only Trey Lance, first round pick of the 49ers, started fewer college games before declaring for the draft.

*TVD seems like a balanced and sensible guy. Is it possible that he would prefer to stay and learn under Josh Gattis rather than leave early for the NFL? A full season in 2023 means he’d have 36 starts or so in college before his departure.

*that scenario of TVD staying with the Canes in 2023 makes sense to me. It would not be good for Jake Garcia. But, it would be good for the Canes.

Whaddaya think?
