No need for any more posts...this sums it all up....its long, I don't care if you read it or dont or like it or dont........and IMHO is sorta third party view.
Some facts whether we like them or not or whether we would support the opposite or not, ....and a couple of opinions.....
1. Gary is spot on, this program has not been run correctly for a long time and certainly not correct structurally (like a business). CMD was a panic hire and a Hail Mary. The shareholders need to flex and exercise some authority over their investment and hold their CEO (James) ass to a standard....About CMD, Not that he might not succeed and being a "Miami guy" be here for a long long time...but the odds do not support that. Bad approach for sure, and the jury is out on if it was a good hire or not.
2. Recruiting does need to be turned up a notch. I do not have a clue how to successfully do that, nor do most here although we ALL have an opinion....but the professionals better figure it out, because knowing it is a problem and fixing the problem are two different things...if this administration does not see it as an issue ..............then we have FAR bigger problems.
3. Gary is absolutely 150% WRONG if he thinks bags in the form of bitcoin, prepaids, and influence payments do not exist on a VERY ....VERY large scale at the top programs. It is what it is.
4. The program was in bad shape when CMD inherited it, but CMR did do some very positive things for the program....he was just toasted, and a change was needed. CMR did The U a huge favor by resigning and in the end moved the program ahead structurally if not from a talent or player development standpoint.
5. We are 2-2 and it is what it is.
6. (O) Enos and CMD are playing the long game in player development, and thinking big picture. There are a lot of ways to "cover up" some of the on field deficiencies or you can stick to the developmental plan and take your lumps...for example you can chip or cover your tackles every play but do they truly grow into the system you want, if you do that.????
7. This Program is paying for coaching deficiencies of yesteryear, right now.....they don't know what they have, and what they have has not approached their ceiling because of poor player development under CMR administration. So a one off season turnaround is IMHO too much to ask, but you should start to see development in the next weeks with 6 additional weeks and four games under their belt.
8. There is some good young talent here ............... and sometimes it is darkest just before dawn and sometimes it is darkest just before it gets a little darker......we just don't know who, what or how widespread the development will be or not be.
9. There are also some guys who absolutely do not belong in uniform at the University of Miami.....the "talent" is "top heavy" and "bottom heavy".....and the top end talent has not developed..... and the JAG 3 star talent has not developed into sundry pieces of the puzzle due to coaching..............Absolute Whiffs in recruiting have got to STOP...STOP!!!!! No more Milo's, Dykstra's and Martins.....just FAR too many of those.
10. The biggest issue of the ten IMHO is this...we will have VERY CLEAR signs of what we have for the long term by what happens in the short term......either these guys start to develop after four games or they flatline and make the same mistakes with the same on field persona....that is a coaching issue....philosophical change (TNM) will not matter one bit in the long run, if the actual player development and coaching do not start to blossom in the next weeks........it will all be another "Golden Illusion" about imprinting change the "New Miami" without the substance of actual player development.....
Conclusion: The days of winning on talent only are over unless you are at an elite self propagating Bama, Clemson, OU OSU, etc......times have changed and those programs caught the wave.............To the U: "Gentlemen you don't have enough talent to win on talent alone"....... and unless the fundamentals of recruiting changes is a major way, recruiting alone is NOT going to change the upside of the program. It can only be a part, albeit a big part. There won't be any we did not see that coming statement, or etc....
The next few weeks will tell if this staff has what it takes to transform a middle of the road struggling program into a self sustaining type program. So IMHO we don't really have enough to form a strong enough opinion one way or the other just yet although it don't look good initially......but those days are coming quickly.
