Are these Union leaders really surprised?

I could be wrong but I believe we covered the pipeline in another thread a couple of days ago.

In summary:

- The jobs in question are mostly seasonal, and not permanent
- Clean energy jobs are growing at a much faster rate, so folks who worked in dirty energy (fossil fuels, coal etc), can retrain into the clean energy sector where there's more opportunity

More here:

As a rule anybody calling themselves fact checkers, are anything but fact checkers. They’re the most dishonest groups out there, they’re nothing but propagandist. It’s like Ted Bundy advocating for life.

"Pipeline construction requires thousands of part-time and temporary workers during the preconstruction and construction phases, and a smaller number of permanent employees are required once the pipeline is operational".

When completed it provides thousands of permanent jobs. I know you’d rather get our energy from Russia. It’s amazing some people don’t understand the benefits of being energy independent, and lessening our dependence on the Middle East. This is how you stay out of needless and endless wars.

Energy independence and promoting the continued use of fossil fuels are two separate issues. You can have one without the other and the long term forecast on oil is that its slowly going away and will be replaced by renewables. Also, we are already not dependent on the Middle East for oil - as stated earlier in this thread, we get a majority of our oil from Canada and have been for some time without the need for Keystone.

The oil transported in the pipeline will still be moved in just by truck and rail both of these processes have a worse impact on the environment
Everything these idiots do in the name of environmental protection have an equal or even worse opposite effects on environment.
Trucks and trains burn fuel creating a bigger carbon footprint also more accidents happen with trucking and trains

just like we stop coal fire energy in USA to save environment but the coal still gets used in other places,
Places that have no regulations hence burn it a lot dirtier than we did. Therefore you think you helped but you hurt the environment more.
Also the coal regulations caused factories to shut down and jobs to go overseas and the carbon emissions are worse.

Per capita carbon emissions in the United States are down over the past decade - perhaps not coincidentally because environmental issues and clean energy emerged as viable alternatives during that period and will continue to do so. The broader issue is that we are moving away from oil, coal and all the old sources of energy and towards green energy. In 20 years I suspect we most cars and trucks will run on electric and most energy will come from renewable sources. That's the direction where the technology and jobs are headed in, so we are going to need to ween ourselves off our addiction to fossil fuels over the next decade or so.

Wait, I thought getting out of the Paris Climate accord wound lead to the end of the world by 2020? Radical Raoul and his cohorts caught in more lies of terror!

I don’t disagree with that but my point is canceling the keystone pipeline is window dressing by politicians to appease the left and it’s actually counterproductive.
The idea that you stop drilling and here and act like your helping the world as an excuse to destroy businesses and jobs is asinine. The rest of the underdeveloped world can not afford to not use cheap energy sources ie coal oil natural gas
If we don’t produce it somebody else will. And unfortunately the people that will are Russia Iran Venezuela and the entire Middle East. Which then makes it a global security let alone a notional security issue.
those countries are full of people with bad intentions. The real answer is to continue to be the world’s biggest energy producer create high paying jobs keep a big % of the world’s oil money out of the hands of bad characters and be the leader in development of cleaner and safer energy sources. With demand worldwide so high for natural gas and oil why would you not be the leader in the industry not the loser.
all those jobs and money can also provide the necessary funds for research and development of the new energy sources .
The dishonesty of the narrative is ridiculous the Paris accord is a joke no one is meeting the commitments.
And China and India don’t even have to start for years and the USA is supposed to pay for other countries
Come on man

How is that solar panel on the roof of your car working out for you? Or do you have the windmill on the roof model.?

Who couldn’t see this coming a mile away? Do they get surprised when sun goes down every night?

They are not surprised. But they have been well paid(off).

In all fairness and I actually like you but you do say dumb shit all the time. You really do, lol. The best part that makes it funny is that you clearly try really hard and put effort fourth. Your spin sometimes is like something out of the twilight zone. My god I love this board. Always good for a laugh. Even cd, he’s like our dysfunctional family’s black sheep that you want to turn your back on but you can’t because he’s family and makes us all laugh in the worst ways.
