Greetings, all U baseball Caniacs!

In just a few moments, your Miami Hurricanes host New York Tech in Game 2 of their weekend series at The Light. I assume Andrew Suarez will be on the mound for the U.

Before the first pitch, No. 8 FSU went into Louisville last night and handed the No. 2 Cards their worst defeat of the year (actually since 2012). The final was 13-4 in front of the largest crowd ever at at UL's stadium (6,100+). But payback is heck and that's what happened earlier today as Louisville blanked FSU 7-0. I'm thinking because we are closest to the Noles in the rankings, we need them to lose Sunday's game and the series.

In the meantime, another team we are chasing in the rankings, No. 10 UF, wrapped up a weekend series in Nashville against No. 9 Vandy. The 'Dores won Thursday night 2-0 in 12, but the Gates came back to win last night and again today in 10 innings so they may land a Super Regional (the 'experts thinks FSU will to).

As for our game, I must admit it was tough for me to watch the highlights against an over-matched opponent like New York Tech. Frankly, I wish they had imposed a mercy rule last night but that's me. While our competition up the road is playing ranked teams in their conference, here we are playing a weak program in ability and name-recognition. Clemson is hosting GA Southern and BC ditto with Hartford but all the other ACC teams are playing in conference this weekend.

I'll be back in a few when our game starts.

Go Canes!
