Hey Lou Lou are you a DEM...?? Just curious..
I am. I'm not a Dem that supports Medicare for all, free college, open borders, reparations etc. Of course, to all the right wingers on here I'm still an extreme unpatriotic liberal. But the fact is I served in the marine corps, believe in capitalism, and believe we must do better in border security. However, I also believe that this president is a clown that cares about nothing and nobody but himself. Helsinki told me all I need to know about his character and patriotism. And all the short-term economic "success" that everyone boasts about will have terrible repercussions in the long-term in my opinion.
you had me all the way up until you said that Trump was all about himself . You sound like a liberal that had some common sense and core values.
How is 500,000 new manufactured jobs a bad thing for this country , How is taking care of our military a bad thing for this country, how is getting fair trade deals with China and the rest of this countries a bad thing for this country .
And this makes President Trump selfish and all about himself .
I think you’re a lot confused brother
Not confused at all. And like I said there are certainly good short-term economic successes. Unemployment, stock market are both great. The concern I have is long-term. When you stimulate an economy that doesn't need to be stimulated, which he did with tax cuts, you run the risk of inflation and you run the risk of having an even bigger correction when it happens (and it will happen). Plus he exploded the national debt when it wasn't necessary to do so.
Now I know your argument will be that he inherited a horrible economy and Trump needed to do a tax cut so employers would hire more people with the tax savings. The unemployment rate at the end of 2016 was 4.7% (not exactly horrible but since Obama was president the right loves to say it was). It went to 4.1% in 2017 without a tax cut. Tax cut signed in December 2017. Unemployment at the end of 2018 was 3.9%. So I think it's a fair question to ask if a tax cut that large was worth it. It's great for the corporations that didn't need it but for working class people? I think not.
You'll probably also argue that Obama exploded the debt. Fair point. But I would argue that quite a bit of that was necessary with the economy dangling off a cliff when he took over. Now some of that was also discretionary with healthcare. I understand that the right doesn't really care to get as many people covered as possible. I disagree. Does it have flaws? Absolutely. But has it also given millions of people an option they didn't have before? Absolutely. It's better than the Trump plan which was repeal and nothing.
So I'm not saying the short term economic data is bad. I'm saying the cost in the long run is where we will get hurt. I know people love talking about manufacturing jobs and taking care of the military but the fact is the military always has an enormous budget regardless of who is president and manufacturing only represents about 10% of jobs in this country. We are a service economy and as long as labor is cheaper overseas we will stay a service economy.
Ot worked under JFK , Clinton , Regan and now Trump..
This country was being run by a globalist who hampered growth with silly regulations only because he hated the fact of the economic power of this country..
Him and Soros where cut out of the same mold.
Give me Trump any day of the week over a muslim socialist who cared more about up setting the radical muslims than his own citizens of this country.
So no discussion just name calling. Exactly what I figured. Yet another example of the stupid people support for Trump.
The economy didn’t need stimulated? It was at one percent growth, Obama said this was the new norm, high unemployment, the most people on food stamps. At one time liberals cared about the middle class, and working poor. Remember Obama’s quote, forget those manufacturing jobs, they’re not coming back.So no discussion just name calling. Exactly what I figured. Yet another example of the stupid people support for Trump.
