Builder holding me hostage.

Closing on a home today and they ask for comments and gave honestlcomments and the want give up the keys. Need to know what rights do I have.

Holding you hostage about what? A lot of them play on your desire to move in.

Yeah, usually it is over money or backing out over some agreement. I think when I moved in they were trying to hold the keys but it was so long ago I don't even remember for sure what it was about anymore.. All I remember is telling them no and they better give me the keys or I am going to take legal action.

They do this because most of the time they think you have no option but to move in so they can squeeze something else out of you. But if you stick to what the paperwork says or your agreement they will fold like a cheap suit. They have no leg to stand on.

They didn't like my wife comments that she wrote. She had already signed all forms so there was no reason. But this is going on right now.

Oh, yeah that is something that depends on what your wife wrote because if it is something they don't agree to they can make a stink...but still, not worth holding the keys. You just fix that and move one with another document. Sounds like they don't consider it a done deal as a result of what was written....so instead of discussing it and fixing that they are holding the keys.

So after a 10am closing and being held there till 345 they come back and say we are going to pull your contract because it don't seem like you happy with the house......so we say ok . We leave and call back and say we need all money spent and the extra 4800 bucks for everything we added in. 5 min. Later oh you can come get the keys to your house.if it wasn't for a crying wife. I would have told them to go to hell and then wife would have been made at me. But just glad it over and to tell everyone don't buy from D.R. HORTON. BUT YOU DO BUYER BEWARE....
