before we start labeling him the messiah of the program. I think this is what Gary meant by kaaya holding the " franchise" in his hands for only a true sophomore. Remember guys after jacory lead us to wins over okla and fsu everybody was pegging him for a heisman then as he went thru the program he became known as pickory and became a reason why many fans didn't want teddy because they thought he would be another jacory. After Stephen Morris came on to lead us to a few good wins when jacory went down then lead us to 9 wins then won manning camp MVP, everybody was pegging him for a big year and 1st rnd selection... He became known as drive killa his last year in the program. I say this to say that lets let the egg hatch before we peg it as the one to lead the U back and #1 overall NFL pick. There is a reason why kaaya is picked between 3rd-5th among QBs in our own conference. Despite his impressive numbers as a true freshman he did only complete 58% of his passes with 11 picks and was part of a 6-7 campaign. This was with a veteran offensive line and a 1st rnd pick at LT. One of the top backs in the conference/ nation and also an NFL player. A Rookie NFL starting TE and a 1st rnd pick at WR who is looking to start for the colts in the slot. All that is gone and what's left is a lot of questions marks and really nothing proven or even equal to replace it, at some positions u can say a vast downgrade. There was another rookie QB in Christian hackenberg who put together an impressive freshman campaign, so impressive that many were talking about him as a #1 overall pick. Well his sophomore years as not that impressive because a lot of the veteran talent left and they were extreme young and experienced on the offensive line and skill positions and he struggled and now the #1 overall pick talk has died down. Now he is looked at as being behind Jared goff, Connor cook, Boykin &kessler just because of a bad year due to a lot of changes around him.

My point is that yes we can be excited about kaaya. He is a very bright spot for Miami but at the same time lets not put the cart before the horse. Let's see what brad can do first. As we have seen with jacory who we called pickory and Stephen who we coined drive killa... We as a fan base can turn our messiahs into goats in a flash when they dont live up to our lofty expectations.
