We put way too much emphasis on him. He is one guy. We need a team, a roster of excellent players. This Chickillo nonsense is way overblown. Because the quality of our signees on the DL was so low and because Chickillo played so well in that all-star game that his expectations went through the roof.
Alabama, Ohio ST, Auburn, LSU, UF, FSU and all of the other schools that signed the most highly thought of DEs and DTs were littered with 4 and 5 star Players who went there and did nothing, failed to meet expectations, failed out, never improved or were overrated. Their names are not even recognizable.
Here are our 4 star DLmen since 2009according to Rivals:
in 2009 Dye, Vernon and Robinson
in 2010 No 4 star DT or DE
in 2011 Grimble and Chickillo were our only 4 stars.
in 2012 McCord and Hamilton
in 2013 AQM
in 2014 Thomas, Jackson and Moten
11 4 stars in 6 Years!! The problem is we didn't bring enough in. Out of 11 in 6 years how many have amounted to anything? Dye, Hamilton, Robinson, and Grimble were nothing here.
That leaves 7. Chick and Vernon were decent, Four are still TBD and McCord I don't know what to say.
I say Chickillo was actually the best. Vernon was more talented but had injuries the first two years and suspension the third and never seemed to even give a damn about the U. Selfish player from my memory.
Too early to judge the 2014 guys. I expect good things from them. Same with AQM.

WE need to recruit better. We cannot change the past and complaining doesn't help. We have to win this year or fired these clowns and recruit better. Why are we surprised that we are 6-7 when we recruit to 6-7 or at least close to it.
