Circus

No chance. Even Fox News analysts were just saying Clinton "clobbered" Trump. Look, I hate Hillary as much as you or anyone else, but she won this one going away and the polls will most certainly show that.

By the way, he didn't look like a mad man? Are you serious with that? The constant sniffling, fidgeting like he had Tourette's, nervously drinking water, and yelling over her and always interrupting her. He came across as flat out insane.

We are screwed in this country. There is simply nobody worth voting for. So sad.

Afterwards I saw an interview with Hillarys campaign manager who, of course, thought that she just blew him away. That said, he also noted that he didn't expect any effect on the polls at all.

Folks who are undecided at this point or wavering cannot make up their mind. The press and social media will dictate their post-debate thoughts. Debates are losing their impact. Most candidates would prefer not to do the debates but the networks love them. It draws viewers during and post-debate and feeds the cycles.

Moderators are too intervening and show obvious bias. Last night Holt interrupted Trump twice as many times as he did Clinton. Holt initiated six or seven "character" type topics towards Trump, such as bankruptcies. He initiated none towards Clinton. I think more than ever the voters, on both sides, are suspect of the system's objectivity. It is difficult to cull the press wheat from the chaff.

I always get transcripts of candidates' important speeches and read those closely. Body language and tone and delivery are important, but as we know, words mean things.

Trump got owned in this debate but only because he fell into a professional politicians trap. Gloves will come off next round, we will see how that goes. She cant hide forever. Liars usually do win debates so she probably wins them all. He came out to look presidential and she took advantage of that. Surely his team will have him better prepared to just hammer whatever he wants next time. I don't get how people think she did well though, she comes off as such a pompous elitist to me, but she won because Trump didn't capitalize on a billion of her faults. Of course, 1.5 hours isn't enough time to cover all her bs and political propaganda. I'm ok with trump now more than ever. Biased debates typically energize me.

I disagree. More people are moving away from being a sheep and not just voting their party affiliation across the board like they have in the past.

It's hard to vote Hillary, although she has more experience than Trump, but not all good experience. I've read Trump's views and website/transcripts, and other than his economic policy, I was hoping to get more substance on his other policies. If Trump doesn't provide this, I see many voting for Trump to avoid "more of the same" that works be Hillary.

One thing we all can agree... Rigged system!!

Trump was not prepared and missed many opportunities. He is not a good debater. Clinton memorized more stuff and was better prepared. The debate was really hard to watch. A pitiful display of incompetence. With all the critical problems this country (and the world) is facing such as terrorism, debt, cyber security, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, nuclear proliferation, jobs, the economy, its a damn shame we have no leadership at the presidential level or elsewhere. We are just drifting aimlessly around and going to run aground soon. All you can do is vote for the person who think has a better chance of putting a minor dent in some of these problems. Just having a cyber attack on our grid could throw this country into chaos. This is a reason to like football so as to not think about the possibilities.

Excellent post.

Trump was acceptable to the casual observer. That's all he needed in the first debate.

Reactions: foulkes
People see their incomes going down .Murders are up 11 percent across the country via latest FBI data released yesterday. Clinton lied about the NYC murder rates .They are up from last year. Intimidation of the police has led to increased violence in the inner cities. Its just like the 70's all over again. Who was in charge then ? Democrats.
African Americans in the inner cities live in fear in their own neighborhoods. Most have witnessed violence. Dwayne Wade lost a family member in Chicago.Hillary made excuses and wouldnt even recognize the problem.Giuliani cleaned up NYC by the same methods Trump wants to use. You cannot ignore the fact that 60 percent of violent crimes and murders are done by African American males that comprise 6 percent of the population .To stop that you have establish a return to a normal family structure ,better jobs and self reliance-not government handouts and pandering.
Wages have gone down because of legal and illegal immigrants supplanting Americans at lower wages. That makes American workers poorer and enriches big business.Trump wants an end to that.
Hillary can not defend her record or policies so she resorts to personal attacks. It isnt working.

I am voting for Trump as well. He needs to be prepared, practice this type of debating, and memorize facts. He needs to concentrate on the real problems which have gotten worse the last 8 years. This can be tied to the Democrats and Clinton. You could say the economy is better but the growth rate is horrendous. Real unemployment is over 10 percent with 95 M people out of work. And in my list of problems I missed a lot such as illegal immigration, racial division and strife and entitlements. Its really a train wreak waiting to happen. I just feel bad for my kids and the country as well because I think it is the greatest nation ever created.

Our great country hasn't had a great leader in some time now. We have a habit of electing fools/incompetents to high office, why should this year be any different?

I think that since the "TV era" has begun, it has become very difficult for a great leader (from either party) to get elected. Everything is about sound bites, how somebody looks on a debate stage and who can do a better job turning out of context statements into attack ads.

If you take policy out of it and just look at who was a great leader as president (not who happened to be in office during certain economic situations or world events), Kennedy and Reagan are the only two. That's 2 out of 10 since 1960.

In reality, I think that most people that would actually make great presidents don't want the job and don't become politicians to start with. Career politicians aren't normally great people, great leaders or particularly competent. They are typically lawyers that are good salesmen (or women).

To bring it back to relevance to Miami Hurricanes football, almost all politicians are like Al Golden.

for those that dont like either candidate and/or want open-ballots, who would you want running?

..i ask only because we have a process, what happened to this "better" person?

Exactly. Candidates never answer the questions asked in these debates. We have 320 million people in this country and our choice comes down to these two???? Unbelievable.

whoa dude..we have roughly 152 million people that are eligible for presidential election (see link; i like the math for a rough estimate)

https://www.quora.com/How-many-people-are-eligible-to-become-president

neither candidate is perfect...but who in history has been?!

never has a non-politician had a better chance to win (in the modern era).

remember, congress is far more responsible for the actions and inaction's of our government than any president. if the country had the same passion for picking our congressional representatives as we appear to have with the presidential race, we would be in far better shape.
