  • First drive of each half on offense, we looked like a completely different team. It seems like Enos is good at scripting plays but once he is not as adept at making changes and calling plays on the fly. Obviously a very bad quality for an OC (or DC). First call of the game to Mallory was maybe his best call of the year. Where are the rest of those kind of plays?
  • Zion is simply not ready. Two plays in a row he gets Jarren killed, one resulting in a fumble. Bud Foster is smiling ear to ear.
  • Brevin had a couple blocks that he just doesn't hold long enough
  • We used #15 as a DT on passing downs quite frequently. He looked pretty good. He has the most potential on this team by far, IMO. Wouldn't shock me if he blew up next year and goes top 10.
  • Knowles still sucks in coverage
  • Jarren had a very uneven game, but I do like that he is starting to take off when he sees green in front of him.
  • Cam Davis needs to be a little less tenative, especially with this line. There was a 3rd down play early in the game where he could have shot through a hole for the first down, instead he tries to take it outside and gets stopped short when LB destroys his blocker (Zion or Brevin)
  • Garvin is currently our best player, no chance he stays.
  • All of our corners, including Bandy, really struggled. He made a few dumb penalties including one in the endzone that was totally unnecessary.
I thought it was tough to watch the game live, tried doing it without the comfort of beer, and it was very depressing. We should have beat this team by 50. I'm not sure how much of our mistakes are really correctable, a lot is just talent. I'm not saying relative to CMU, but for the rest of the season. Our Corners are not very good except Bandy (weak performance notwithstanding). Our OL has little talent and even less tenacity. Our WR's are all above average but no one is great, although the scheme is definitely part of the issue.

If we can win the next 2 games, we have a solid chance at 9-3 (I imagine we lose to FSU or Pitt). If we lose either of the next two games we're looking at 7-5 or worse.

Let's see what both the coaches and players are made of the rest of the way. I don't see enough people who get sick at the thought of losing and that makes me sick. Manny has said he is working to change the culture but so far I haven't seen it. It won't happen overnight but it better start soon, as in before next week.
