If he extends for Oregon he alienates his home town and puts himself in a position to have to compete with two top tier coaches in LA for California recruits. If he comes to Miami he has a chance to be a hometown hero and start corralling S Florida talent. If he thinks he can come here at a later date 3 or 4 years from now I think that ship will have sailed. Yes he improved Oregon's record but last year meant nothing as it was a Covid year and he went 4-3 and snuck into the Pac 12 championship. This year he got totally destroyed twice in a row by a good not great Utah team.
The best we can hope for with Mario is as a recruiter and hope he selects the right coordinators. That he can be like a Butch Davis type who brings in enough talent to win big but isnt a great x and O guy. If Mario does not come perhaps the best we can hope for are a top flight DC and OC and Keep Manny as head coach. That may sound like a horrible thing to us but who else will you bring in if they are not going after Lane? The kids play for him and like him .Just keep him away from the defense. Sounds bizarre but it could happen.
