if you haven't seen it, Manny Navarro has a good piece in the Herald today about Al's recruiting classes (2011 disaster, better in '14 and '15). Check it out.

Focusing on the DL, I'm encouraged. Our current top 4 DTs all came into the program during the last two years: Heurtelou, Jenkins, Moten and Norton. Wyche is a bust while Fines is a "wait and see" after his redshirt year. We will find out about Willis next year. That's 4 hits, one miss and two maybes.

At DE, we've landed in the last two years: Harris, Thomas, Jackson, Patchan and McIntosh. McIntosh is better than expected. I'm assuming Patchan will redshirt to add size and strength while he recovers from his ACL injury. But, he looks like a player. That's 5 hits and no misses.

Looking forward, our recruiting pipeline at DE looks very, very strong. At DT, we still need more talent and depth. Perhaps Willis will step up next year.

We are still looking for a dominant player or two in the tradition of Cortez, Brown, etc etc. Overall, however, I'm encouraged at long last by our DL recruiting.
