The New Miami was to be a continuation of 10-3 season of 2017 rather than a rebuild of the 2018 season which we went 7-6.
Now we know better.
What no one saw at the beginning of the Daiz era was how much of a swing and a miss hiring Blake Baker was. One major quality that I loved about Diaz as a DC was his halftime adjustments and if he had time meaning the offense continued to drive the ball while the defense was on the sidelines we would also game real time game adjustments. Under Diaz as a DC if you gave him enough time to explain to his defense what the offense is trying to do our defense always stepped up to the plate.
The problem is that no matter how much time you give Baker on the sidelines with his defense as the offense drives or even halftime there are no adjustments.
How many times have you seen an offense go back to a successful play against a Diaz coordinated defense only to give up a turnover?
Perfect example is the TE screen last year against FSU. FIRST TIME IT CAUGHT DIAZ OFF GUARD AND THEY GAINED 17 YARDS ON 3RD DOWN. NEXT TIME AROUND PINCKNEY KNEW WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND PICKED IT OFF.
Similar thing happened to Baker and he is the reason we lost the game.
