I rescued Tommy's mother from an abusive Colorado fan at a game in Boulder years ago. After the game she took me down to meet him and coach Erickson. He thanked me, took down my address and later sent me a large poster of Erickson leading the team through the smoke. It was titled "Live the Tradition". It's still hanging on my wall to this day. We were playing FSU next so I sent him a letter advising him how to contain Charlie Ward. I'm sure he got a good laugh out of that.
