Florida on Thursday reported 21,765 more COVID-19 cases and 901 deaths to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to Miami Herald calculations of CDC data.
All but two of the newly reported deaths occurred after July 25, with a vast majority, about 78%, of those people dying in the past two weeks,

No we absolutely should not shut down the state and there’s absolutely nobody calling for that, just asking the governor to start giving a shit about what’s happening to your citizens and work with everybody to do our best to try to protect his fellow people… to actively work against mandating life saving vaccines and to go all ape shit about children wearing masks is insanity.
If you follow the daily death count as I do, its easy to see DeSantis has been cooking the books on FL deaths for some time. For instance, yesterday they only listed 9 deaths despite consistently leading the nation in new cases every day for weeks. Therefore this is not entirely surprising and will all but snuff out his future political ambitions.

Exactly. Don;'t need to be a scientist to realize it. We're averaging 20k cases a day and having deaths of states that have about 800 cases a day. The 7 day death peaked about 2 weeks before the 7 day case peaked. Makes absolutely no sense and was obvious to anyone paying attention.

There are way too many selfish, thoughtless, inconsiderate folks who choose not to get vaxxed, dont wear masks, dont advocate social distancing, etc., but when these folks get sick with the virus they take away the care needed of people who have heart problems, victims of Gun Shot Wounds, injured in auto accidents, victims of natural disasters, infants with health issues. When these folks get sick with the virus they spend weeks, months in the hospital further complicating matters.
