The focus on local kids ebbs and flows. Many of the local elite talent use Miami and disrupt recruiting when a significant number of local recruits speak about their commitment to Miami in positive ways and then ultimately sign at another school. A number of the other elite local recruits are at least honest and do not commit only to decommit.

This year a significant amount of praise was voiced when recruiting focus INCLUDED (in addition to local recruiting) a national recruiting approach.

Two games into the season and "those that know" are saying that our coaches' national recruiting nuance is misdirected and Miami must recruit locally. Recruiting locally has proven to be very problematic to a program that has not proven itself on the field of play.

Recruiting is on the coaches to make it happen. Not one of this year's commitments that have been SELECTED by this coaching staff has played one down. Coaches must develop those they select. The answer of whether or not this set of coaches can get the job done (in recruiting and development) is yet to be determined. Time is precious, especially when we have been waiting 16 years for the New/Old Miami.
