I appreciate that fair minded approach you took. One issue though. To say someone is delusional really comes down to the opinion that they don't see what you see, frankly they could say the same about you. How hot is the seat comes down to who you listen to, this board is scorching, but the real decision makers who knows?
The roster is very short on proven talent, which is all you can go on in the spring. Funny thing about unproven talent, they can surprise you. Now I'm not clairvoyant or am willing to go out on any limbs about next seasons record, but I would argue that the total talent on the roster is better than any of Golden's tenure.
I know that Auburn has done a lot with their coaching staff that sure looks impressive and that is totally understandable. They have a fervent fan base and have been very good in recent seasons. We have been treading water through the tsunami of crap that has been heaped on this program. Some of it is the coaches, some the fans, some the players, some the administration and some the media. Enough to go around and way to much to place at anyone's feet.
A little optimism can go along way, a flicker of light to penetrate the darkness. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may not come, rejoice in today and make it all it can be.
