When Butch Davis was here, going to see UM football was torture. Weak, poor, mediocre teams slowly getting
better year to year. Finally he put it together and had "instant success!"
Al Golden inherited a nightmare scenario of which he was not aware and had the strength of character to persevere. He had a plan and a vision to achieve the best for UM. Looking back he and the staff have faced
incredible challenges building a top notch program for the future. The staff has been upgraded. The facilities are first class and getting better! The recruiting nation-wide has been great especially in South Florida. He and his staff have ceded nothing to the other programs. We are turning the corner and building a power house one recruiting class at a time. The quality and depth of player personnel has dramatically improved with 2016 and 2017 looking even better! Every facet of the marketing and promotion is first class. The initiation of the 7 on 7 Tournament, Junior Day barbecues, summer camps, etc. is starting to payoff with exposure and solid commitments. All of this will eventually turn into "instant success" like Butch Davis enjoyed.
