Nobody on this board could do any better of a job being a UM D1 coach..than the people the administration hires for that position....
Its ABSOLUTELY MORONIC for ANYONE ON THIS BOARD THINKS THEY "CAN DO BETTER OR HIRE BETTER" Now..Are coaches open to criticism?.. Of Course they are!.. Have our administrative hires always been Effective?.. Of course not.. but my point is.. Any IDIOT on this board who wants a coach Fired..over 1 bad Play.. or a kid dropping a pass..or something of this nature is LUNACY.. SO STOP IT !!
I'll give you a rundown of my views of the coaches we've had
1. Schnelly- Brilliant hire from the Dolphins.. Masterminded a complete Turnaround of the Miami program and fufilled his promise to turn Miami into a National brand by winning a national title..Took him 4 to 5 years (Cant remember).. but he got it done.. Win for administration as a hire!
2. Jimmy - BEST COACH Miami has ever had.. Brash and Confident.. After 1st year of mediocrity..Said.."Screw it! and COLLEGE FOOTBALL!" and blew everybody out of the water! THE ORIGINAL CREATOR OF SWAG..and one of the greatest coaches ever at any level.. Win for administration as a hire!..
3. D. Erickson - A FILLER HIGHER.. Not Miami Material.. Won with Jimmy's and Schnelly's Carryover affect.. presided over beginning of Pell Grant Scandal.. Lazy hire by administration and a black eye as a hire..
4. B. Davis - Jimmy discple..Great recruiter..Hired by admin to take us out of the doldrums of the PELL GRANT SCANDAL and return us to prominence.. also an attempt to RECAPTURE THE JIMMY MAGIC.. Accomplished his goal under A TON OF SCRUTINY (Some deserved for years) left due to $$$ in the NFL and regrets it to this day.. A win for the administration in terms of a hire.. And the saddest loss to our program because I believe had he stayed.. He could have been our COACH K.. And a God in College football...
5. L. Coker - Obviously a filler and not Miami material.. Was basically a forced hire by athletes on the roster who threatened to DEFECT if he or someone on Butch's staff wasnt hired.. Won with Butch's talent but wasnt a Miami fit.. Admin gets an F HERE.. Cant let the inmates run the asylum...
6. R. Shannon - Great D. Coordinator.. Bad Head Coach.. Hired due to logevity with the program and being a South Florida guy.. Not much to say other than Randy just isnt Head Coach material and makes a better coordinator.. Again..LAZY HIRE BY ADMINISTRATION!..
7. A. Golden - Obviously not Miami material and I believe was SET UP by the MUNCHKIN and her FRAUD ASS AD at the time because THEY KNEW THE HAMMER WAS GOING TO DROP.. ON THE SHAPIRO SCANDAL.. This hire DECIMATED our proud program..but I dont blame AL.. He thought he could overcome all odds at The U and was never really accepted and rightfully dismissed.. WORST HIRE OF THE BUNCH.. OBVIOUSLY..
8. Mark Richt - Alumnus..Genuine..Family man.. Community driven.. Donated 1 million to IPF.. In went from 9-4 in Year 1 to 11 -1 with an ACC championship and ORANGE BOWL APPEARANCE in Year 2.. with Roster... and I stress this.. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!! to the amount of talent Jimmy or Butch had at there peaks..And a Back Up QB to boot!! ... also Wants to be here LONG TERM!! The jury is still out.. But it seems to me Miami's admin has finally gotten it RIGHT!!
Conclusion.. I think when the dust clears..Mark Richt will end up being the guy we've all been waiting for..A TRUE BONA FIDE COLLEGE COACH.. That doesnt have any dreams of the NFL.. That we can count on to carry this program back to prominence.. NOW!! I know we all want that to happen TOMORROW..BUT Rome wasnt built in a day.. and Could I be wrong..OF COURSE!! But on from the outside in perspective.. It looks as if we are definietly on the right set of tracks!!
So next time some idiot on this board thinks a coach at Miami Northwestern or Colombus High can do better.. They better think twice before coming on here and spoutin that BS on this board.. Cause I think we've got our guy...
