I’m getting really pissed about ACC network

Maybe I am overreacting a bit (entirely plausible) but I am already very annoyed about the ACC network. I understand the conference’s investing in building out the network and I think it has huge possibilities for bringing awareness and exposure to athletes who play other sports that may not have been broadcast on tv often and it can certainly showcase big revenue sports as well. However, I can’t help but feel that it has also inadvertently caused the ACC to take a bit more of a backseat nationally in that team like Miami that draw good tv ratings and marquee or at least solid ACC matchups are being relegated to this half-baked and somewhat unavailable network. I suppose this may be growing pains and it will get sorted out eventually but how is playing on ACC network ever going to be better than being a featured game on ESPN or ABC?

Comparatively, the SEC has multiple stations in their network and they broadcast great sports like women’s gymnastics and volleyball (full disclosure, my daughter is a volleyball prospect) in addition to multiple football games each Saturday. That only complements the CBS featured SEC game of the week, which along with ABC’s prime time Sat night slot is the best broadcast of the week. It drives me crazy that ACC network keeps assigning Miami games and other matchups that we’d like to watch/scout (UVA vs FSU etc.) to this behind the scenes channel. I feel like the ACC is inadvertently taking a step backwards in the arms race with other big conferences despite having good intentions. I understand ESPN and the cable providers being locked into a leverage battle of negotiations but the end result of so many people being unable to watch Miami is just annoying! Hopefully it gets resolved ASAP
