Other than these reasons:

He isn't Hillary.

I hate Obama.

I hate liberals.

In all seriousness and without turning this into a nasty debate. Why do you support Donald J.Trump? I have a lot of republican friends. You don't have to think like me to be a friend of mine. That's for children. I have asked them and received some interesting answers.

I am a moderate liberal. That's my politics. I am a moderate for two main reasons. One is I am be on equality for every group and I realize that is not exactly possible to be 100%. However, we are so far away from where we need to be it is ridiculous. Secondly, I don't want anyone that wants no government running the government. Deductive logic tells me if you don't want government, you probably shouldn't be in charge of it...because I think it has a role to be played that is important. It has been important through the years...and without it we would be screwed. ALL OF US! Not just a section or group of people.

Now, I have voted republican before and am one of those people that would never say he wouldn't do it again...but I don't view Trump as a republican. That is why I am asking the question. I view him like I do Bernie Sanders who by the way I don't support either. They are independents. Not republicans or democrats.

This is the greatest country in the entire world. Hell, the history of the world because we have opposing views. That's the main reason. We are a varied culture and if you work hard you should be able to succeed. That is in danger now and it is frightening to tell you the truth. Country should always come before political parties.

As for me, I have voted in five elections.....three times for the Democrat and twice for the Republican. I cannot stand Clinton at all to the point where I cant listen to what she says on TV so there was a good six/eight week period where I could wrap my head around the idea of voting for Trump. My premise behind supporting Trump at the time was that since he is the ultimate salesman his rhetoric was geared to get the angry vote and it seemed that he would become more polished over time. It was refreshing for me to see certain aspects of political correctness attacked. Well, once he got the votes and has been taking his rhetoric to new heights its been clear to me that this is no longer about political correctness, immigration, etc....... this is more about sadism. As phony as the Dragon Lady is she doesnt seem so bad right about now unless someone else emerges. It would have been nice to see a different GOP candidate as well as the Dem party not halting a Biden bid. It would be a lot more positive for everyone.

Thanks for that intelligent answer. The Clintons clearly have thier issues but with thier flaws i have always supported them.

I appreciate the answer because as i said. I have a lot of conservative friends ....so i know for a fact they do not stand for the divisiveness i see and hear from mr trump. We dont agree on how to go about fixing things but do agree that this country is great....and must come first.

I would never tell anyone who to vote for here. That's thier business but i do want to know why. What am i missing? I'm an objective person....which is why i voted for George Herbert Walker Bush his first term. Like yourself i dont believe that just because you are my parties nominee it is good enough. That is allowing politicians decide for me what is best for the country at the time. Sometimes we need someone more conservative and sometimes we need some that can invest. It depends.

I never had a problem with Bill running the country. He wasn’t perfect as no President ever was. With Hillary, for me anyways, its not only that she’s robotic, but for example, I believe its disingenuous not to admit the mistakes made when she was in the State Department, etc., because I feel those are the things that should not be pushed to the wayside in terms of what the public should know. Against any other candidate the revelations coming out about her would kill her chances…..but she must be thinking every day is Christmas when she hears Trump. When I see Trump’s son on TV I am actually very impressed and think to myself the apple fell a mile from the tree.

I heard a rumor that Trumps son will be his running mate. I don't really know much about him. I think he ran his dads empire while he was doing the TV Show. Hillary has come a long way with me as far as being robotic...and screaming. Apparently it is something her advisors told her to address. The email thing is something she really needed to be more forthcoming about. The Benghazi stuff is part of what happens unfortunately. It happens on everyone's watch and they asked for more money for security but never got it. So, I am not going to blame her for that. Especially when prominent republicans came out and said it was a smear tactic. That's politics and if you have been in politics as long as the Clintons you will get dirt under your nails for sure.

My concern with trump is his unwillingness to take advice from anyone including prominent republicans. That is gas waiting on a match. Clearly he needs advice. He talks too much and when you do that it always gets you in the end. That's why any attorney here will tell you they tell their clients to shut the hell up....lol. You keep talking it will get misinterpreted even if what you say is well meaning. I am okay with an outsider but he has to be someone that at least wants to try to work with people. It's tough enough even with a person with great skills bringing people together because Washington has a lot of institutional flaws. Flaws no outsider will change in the short term at least. They get way too many terms and there is too much money in politics. As they say, "follow the money" you will get to the corruption. You have to get your hands dirty if you want to play this game....and that is part of what the Clintons are about.

Just like when Reagan was in office. Decisions had to be made. They sold weapons to Iran. You do some things that are dirty regardless of who you are. It isn't a business for people that aren't going to get dirty because you have to work with dirty people all day every day.

I think we should all be a little concerned that we dont start WW III because a European Journalist writes a critical article about Trump if he's in the White House. (Sarcasm may not be intended....lol).

He ain't hillary; what other reason does there need to be?
Do you really need to ask that? Please tell me you don't and you were just kidding. Everything is playing out the way I have said it would. He isn't even republican. He is taking that party down with him and dividing this country.

People make light of the fact that he will have access to the football and the biscuit. Military people know what the biscuit is...but it goes to the football. If you are mentally unstable, you can cause great damage. He just isn't a stable person.

Well....like I said. He is not Hillary just isn't an acceptable answer. It doesn't tell me what his policies are. Whay do you expect from him?

Surely you can make a case for who you want to run the free world. Even i could make a case for either if I wanted to.
I'm sorry cd but there is no way that I could vote for either of these two to lead our country. It's just a shame that in a country as great as America that this is the best we could come up with. Oh well at least football practice started today.

just because you don't like my answer, doesn't mean others don't; i'm thinking people who aren't voting for hillary aren't concerned whether you like their reasoning

I didn't like your answer? I asked for something different. Read the original post. It isn't an answer to what was asked. I asked for a specific question that has nothing to do with what others think. I am asking what you think.

Look man. I said I am not gonna turn this into some big crap show debate. If you can't answer perhaps it is better you don't respond...or say you cant answer it as what has been done.

i just told you what i think; its the most important reason for many people; you just don't like it; you want people to answer in another way, perhaps so you can then argue that point; you don't like the fact you can't argue against "he isn't hillary".

I think I plainly asked you to not tell me he is not Hillary. There is a reason for that. It is just disrespectful to ignore what I asked and try to turn it around on me.

That's what I don't like. I don't like when you see something, and rudely ignore it to make some stupid point that wasn't solicited. Reminds me of someone and completely is understandable.

It is this type of mentality that is the reason he is imploding right now. His followers have no reason to follow him and are embarrassed about that. So, they say stupid things like he does. That's what I don't like and a lot of people. Hell most people.

Like I said, I am not going to turn this into some big crap show debate because I believe I have my answer. You have absolutely no clue what this person will do.

..but I do know what she will do, because she has already done it; see, it is her policies that I think are much worse than his; ok, I'll give you one, because you insist; i think trump will build a stronger military; and when you combine even that one thing, along with "he isn't hillary", i think trump is better

Appreciate the one reason at least. Just so you know....I had a point when I said dont say no hillary and those other things. The point of that is one of them will win regardless of what either of us think or believe. I wanted to understand what we are left with if Trump wins. I wasnt trying to make any case for Hillary at this time or on this thread. I wanted to understand what i am looking forward to with Trump. Because if he wins that's it! Hillary is irrelevant at that point.

raising taxes on the middle class' not good

raising taxes on the middle class' not good
I've had this discussion with my conservative friends. A few even here on canesport. com. Democrats and republicans don't exactly view taxes the same way. There is a lot of irony here.

Republicans always talk about our debt and our deficit. That is the main complaint about Obama. The 18 Trillion dollar debt that is there but nobody wants to discuss the particulars of why we have it.

Bush got in office and cut taxes because republicans view it is the peoples money. But honestly that is how we "the people" pay the national debt down and remove a budget deficit. Then work in a surplus. We can't pay the bills of the country which largely in this case are war and someone has to pay for it. Middle Class, Rich, or Poor People or all of the above but the bill will still come in the mail.

Look at it this way.

Your local district cuts taxes. Now the difference is instead of not paying for war and improving our defense as you said you think Trump will do, the local district doesn't have police or proper training for the police they have. Fire department, water, schools, all of that comes with a bill. Those are services we have to have.

Now, people say well we need to cut cost so we don't pay taxes. That's the answer. Just look for where you can cut. That is a fair solution but with cuts come sacrifices. That is where you decide what is spending and what is investing. There is the rub. Our military budget right now is 10 times higher than the second highest military budget in the world. Some would say at this point it is just spending. Not investing. Some would say it is investing.

If Trump were to win. My hope would be he could find the difference.

U know what's funny though CD you say trump isn't a republican yet this is the most conservative platform ever and his running mate is a nicer charming version of Ted Cruz conservatism... I'm voting trump becuz I don't want a radical left wing liberal like Hilary extending obama's big government, leading from behind foreign policy, economically stagnant and weakness over this country.. Trump is simply more republican than Hilary by far, he was always might 2nd option behind rubio becuz I felt they were the only 2 that can beat Hilary from the beginning.. I will bet money trump will win, u can't underestimate how much ppl are fed up with the robotic politicians like Hilary who are all influenced and bought by big corporations and I her case foreign countries.. I always felt rubio had the integrity and guts most politicians don't to succeed but he'll be president one day, trump will blow crap up and change the status quo which if it wasn't for all the dumb crap he says he would be leading in the polls by a lot.. I think he'll make his pivot now that he's behind in the polls for the first time because of his stupidies and he'll turn it around. That's why I support him hope that answers your question.

But your premise isn't accurate. Obama doesn't run big government at all. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me. He has actually cut the deficit by two thirds. You are listening to the wrong people. I don't know if you are listening to this stuff on Rush or Fox News or fellow republicans but it isn't right. He has cut spending dude. Drastically!!! Oh, and concerning the debt. Yes, he added to the debt but you have to understand how that happened. We got into wars under the Bush administration. Bogus war frankly but that is besides the point. They are expensive. What happened is Bush drastically cut taxes during that time of war. When Obama got into office those policies don't just stop because there is another president. That is revenue we no longer have but the bills from the wars still keep coming. These are things that continue to add to the debt.

So, the narrative that continues to go around that Obama is spending just isn't' true at all. Oh and Trump isn't a republican. No, he isn't. He is simply running as one as Bernie ran as a democrat. He has given more money to democrats over the years than Republicans. He has voted more times for Democrats than republicans. He is not a republicans. He is using this party like Bernie was using the dems.

Pivot? What do you mean pivot? What are you expecting from him that you haven't seen in this time yet? You expect him to magically change? He is 70 years old. He is NOT going to change. He is who he is....and I suspect you will vote for him regardless of if he pivots or not. He could probably do as he says in some ad where he shoots someone and broad daylight and his supporters will still vote for him. Nobody else will though. Because others will put the country first. Look at his party thinking of ways and preparing to distance themselves.

If they do I will consider who they have but this guy doesn't know anything. A fool can see that. If you haven't seen enough to see he is unfit at this point, what pivot are you expecting to see? Honestly, for me it is the most appealing part of him. He doesn't pretend he is anything different than who he is. Nothing will change. It's not a conservative platform. Why do you think he needs to walk everything that comes out of his mouth back? It's because conservatives have to correct him constantly on their platform. Conservatives don't disrespect gold star families dude.

I just wanted to know what I get if he wins. What is it I am supposed to expect? He doesn't know anything. Seriously! I have to say this again, so you don't think I am kidding. He doesn't know anything. I wish he did but he doesn't. He doesn't know what a Nuclear Triad is. He doesn't understand what a NATO alliance is. He doesn't know who our allies are. He doesn't know who Russia has invaded. He doesn't know the constitution is 7 articles and not 12 chapters. I could go on and on. He doesn't know anything.

That's why Hilary is an even more disgusting choice. I know what Hilary will do in the next 4 years she'll add probably another few trillion to the national debit, keep the economy growing at a terrible 1%, allow terrorism to keep spreading instead of just terminating it before it becomes a serious here in the homeland, project weakness, do more favors for herself and the Clinton foundation instead of the American people, allow the divide in this country to continue growing like it has under Obama, and publically defend BLM more than our law enforcement.. Trump has donated more to democrats cuz I guess crooked Hilary is an example of how much influence you can over democrats than republicans.. Btw you say he knows nothing which I did say for awhile but that's because the media is only covering his gaffs and funny moments they don't show the plans he has on his website.. I ask you to watch his economic speech tomorrow I think you will get more specifics which is what I have complained about but to say he doesn't know anything is ignorant he's laid out his agenda for immigration, the economy, security and trade.. Hilary will never beat trump in a campaign about issues 70+% of Americans know this country is headed the wrong way this election is all about trump and it's on him to get ppl to vote for him instead of her in the end, if he loses he only has himself to blame, she's a weak candidate as is so I hope he stays disciplined and bring out the FACTS and if he does that he will be the next president simple as that and lastly I hope he doesn't change I don't like strictly Teleprompter trump he needs to find a good balance

I don't think you follow man. He doesn't know anything. That has nothing to do with the media. I am basing it on what comes out of his own mouth. These aren't gotcha questions either. This is POTUS. They are suppossed to VET candidates and ask follow up questions. I don't think I have seen anyone know less except maybe Sarah Palin. In fact, the press has been rather generous. Particularly fox news. You have to know the constitution has 7 articles dude. You can't possibly tell me the media has something to do with him referring to them as 12 chapters. He doesn't know anything.

Republican leaders are distancing themselves for a reason. Some are trying to stick with him because he has a lot of people that voted for him....but the party is abundantly clear on the fact that he knows absolutely nothing.

I think you are looking at this the entirely wrong way. If he beats Hillary, she is no longer relevant. Then we have him. Then he doesn't know anything man. You aren't getting this simple fact. He doesn't. I'm not making this up.

If you think you know what Hillary is going to do I don't quite understand how that can be but if that is the case, I believe she knows something. She was secretary of state. She was a US senator. She was popular in both positions. She was first lady. She knows something. He knows nothing.

You are perfectly okay with someone that knows nothing. Because of a party affiliation? Man, that is just as crazy as it gets. You are worried about growing at 1% but not a recession or growing at all? Going into recession? He doesn't understand how anything in government works and he doesn't know anything at all. Did you know what Bush was going to do too? Country first man.

I think this a great discussion cd we see things differently man, I believe many people just watch his antics and gaffs and say that's all he says but he brings substance as well, except on foreign policy which "knock out Isis" is not enough for me but when you watch the debates which will make or break this election. I think he's going to really highlight there differences in a positive way but I'm all for a good discussion man I don't shut people up I'm willing to listen and respectfully disagree

That's fair enough. You want to give him more of a chance. I will with his speech today. Not to see if i agee with him. I just want to understand what he knows. I want to see if he can even take advice.

It will be interesting to see him truly debate. Because Hillary isn't the greatest speaker but she can debate. Because she knows her shit. If he can even hang with her on the issues that would be great for his campaign. It would breath life into it for sure. But he is at the point there has to be a there....there so to speak. Not being Hillary is okay to a point. If he doesnt at least show he can do homework this will be a wrap soon.

Hell here in Georgia it is deep red as a state historically. He is even behind here which i am not sure i believe those polls it is so unheard of. They hate dems here and Hillary more...lol.

Just like how trump has only 80% of republican support as time asses people will stay in there corners.. Red states will be red, blue states will be blue .. Both candidates Will have 90%+ support from both parties and in the end this election will be decided by FL, Ohio, PA(think trump can win), and maybe a state like Michigan because of the blue collar for will overwhelmingly go to trump, we'll revisit this convo in October and we should get a good idea who will be 45

Yeah.....let's revisit this after the debates. Interesting he did pivot to the party today with Paul Ryans economic plan. He didn't have a way to pay for his tax cuts and those are for the rich which didn't surprise me. He is at least making an effort to be republican again. It's a republican playbook but he surprised me some in that he clearly listened to someone.

So, if the entire world prays that we elect Trump (so they can laugh at us) what does that say....

This is about as big of a "dog and pony show" as I have ever seen. It's a complete disaster and if you haven't seen the movie Idiocracy, watch it, because it's an extreme depiction of where we are headed if Trump is elected.

The only way you pay down the debt in any meaningful, long-lasting way, is to lower taxes to promote business, and stop spending more than you have

Lowering taxes doesn't necessarily pay down debt. It is a bit more complicated than that. It may add to the deficit which in turn adds to the debt if those businesses don't thrive. A lot of businesses would have to be started to generate the tax funds it takes to pay the debt down assuming spending is under control. To be serious about paying down the debt is to use tax revenues to pay it down while you cut spending where possible. The answer isn't always to cut taxes necessarily. That is why our debt is actually so high. You can't cut taxes while we are at war on multiple fronts. We don't start enough thriving business's to pay for it....and it cuts out a segment of people the economics don't trickle down to even if the business's do thrive a lot of times. Business's make money because that is what they are supposed to do but that doesn't mean they will give raises, jobs, etc domestically.

my comment was meant to be general; i understand the variables given a generality; we will not pay down the debt by raising taxes, unless all variables that are related to raising taxes, are controlled to do just that, which of course will never happen;
