KING TO MIAMI.....We can now add that to the list of SIGNIFICANT changes by this staff....

First, I acknowledge this program has been in a quagmire for the last 15 years. I also understand that allocating a big bank roll for a head coach and staff - for the most part - will equate to victories and a happy fan base.

I GET IT.....

Blake NO DOUBT was HASTY when he fast and furiously hired him NEVER being a head coach anywhere else. HE TOOK A HUGE CHANCE ON MANNY!!!

A few positives about Manny......

Here grew up next to the OB....his passion for this program to be successful will never be in question.I personally prefer a MIAMI GUY coaching Miami football, plain and simple. As long as they win of course.

He was hired by CMR to run our defense and knocked it out of the park (for the most part). He established our identity on defense at a time when we were begging for better.....we were litteraly on our hands and knees.

His ability to rise from the ashes of ESPN as a nobody to where he is now tells us that things probably were not "handed" to him coming up - hard work and determination paid off for him along his work travels.

The guy is obviously intellegent, I do think he "thinks" like an alpha male and has the ability to be aggressive. I don't think he is afraid to swing that old school swagger stick as well.

A few negatives.....

Never a head coach
Never was a player
Has been fired from previous coaching gigs
Went to FSU......I think.....RIGHT?? haha

Previous coaching malacies....

Our biggest problem with Al Golden was his defense - and - his inability to make changes in that regard. I'm trying to think if he ever made any changes to his staff while he was here. Perhaps a posistion coach or two came and went.....I know Mario did for example.

With Golden it was same + same = same as #TNG would say. No significant changes were ever made.

Our boat took on a lot of water this year.....

Manny's first year ended in SHAMBLES. Losing to FIU and LA Tech is simply not acceptable. Our defense played good enough to win at least 8 games this year if not 9 - that is pretty reasonable to say I think. Our weakness THIS YEAR was obviously our offense and field goal unit....and NOT because of talent.

The boat has been patched......will float for another year....

Manny in YEAR ONE has made significant changes to date to the areas that need addressing THAT caused us losses last year.

Enos gone, new OC is in - spread offense coming in the fall and ACCOUNTABILTY in the QB room. You can deposit that check FOR SURE.

New O-Line coach - This dude has not been here for a week and he was at Columbus at 6AM this morning handing out an offer to a guy in a very good program. We need to keep Dade guys home and this was a good start for this coach as reported.

Jose Borregales - FIU'S "best kicker" in school history now added to our program to shore up the FG unit. Two - three games lost last year due to this.

A shiny new porsch would have been nice.....

Paying for that "home run hire" coach is great, money buys a lot of good stuff. But a situation like Manny's - should it work out - will be exponentially better for our program in the long run. We should really be rooting for him TO GET IT RIGHT. Perhaps he did with the changes that were made.

A classic model would have been cool as well.....

I know we all wanted Highsmith, perhaps it was not fair to Manny to pull that trigger after only one year. It's possible it may not have been needed at this time with it only being his first year. We have to have some consistency with our head coaches. We cannot have this "revolving door" mentality because our fanbase is impatient - WE CAN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have to give Manny at least one more (if not two) to get "his people, players" etc in the door.

We can be REALLY special....

Instead of allocating a crap ton of money towards Highsmith, why can't we hire a special teams coach who only coaches special teams - not the LBS coach doing double duty for example.

Put the pipes down.....

Last - in regards to this "party culture" issue. I unfortunatly feel one or two players should be made an example of and shown the door......sorry. There is too much money, wins, unhappy fans, uprooted coaches familes, etc, etc on the line AT ALL TIMES.

These coaches DESERVE ACCONTABILTY from the players - it can't be a one way street.

I am very hungover right now.....honeysuckled to say the least....

As you all have heard, The Tavern in Coconut Grove is closing it's doors. I was there "old school" style last night with friends. If there are any grammer or misspelled words hereyou know why.

Last.....seriously.....

Take a break from all this non-sense - it's not GOOD for you. We have a lot to look forward to this year in my opinion.

We have spring practice coming up....will be interesting to see the changes unfold....
The Dolphins for God's sake have 14 draft picks in the first 3 rounds this year.....that will be fun...
This impeachment/election year is better then any drama created for TV.....

What else.....hmmmmm....thats it.
