If he didn’t make that decision to leave for Cleveland in late January 2001, Finished off that recruiting class and was on the sideline for the 2001 season it would’ve been near impossible for the NFL to get him away...I think at that point the Miami administration would’ve realize what they had and really ponied up the money. If Butch were on the sideline you have to believe Miami has 4 to 5 national championships under him—maybe more (probably 9 to 10 total) and would’ve been known as likely the greatest college football program of all time with that many in the modern era. That fateful decision of Butch changed the course of history these last 18 years in such a terrible way.
If Butch stayed at Miami this would’ve been his 25th season on the sideline
