What really, really needs to happen for the program to progress is to recruit good players who commit to a 4 year development trajectory whereby, they red-shirt, compete and then earn a starting spot in their 3rd year. With the longer development curve the game plans can be more complex and will suffer less mistakes.
This change is not a quick one, dugh so the coaching staff will need time to see the fruits of the planting. If Manny isn't capable of executing this plan, I actually think he is, then get him out now and find someone who will.
