Interesting piece by CNBC on businesses leaving California

For the privilege of being a California company? Not! Labor laws are some of the worst in the U.S.A.
Friend of mine does business in CA. They were called on the carpet by the State for a seemingly minor procedural pay issue.

Their paychecks listed the date the check was cut, however, they didn’t list the period of pay.

They very narrowly avoided millions of dollars in fines because of the number of checks involved.

Very interesting article. Remote working has really accelerated this movement for cheaper homes, lower taxes and fewer regulations. Makes sense.

The article does not, however, bolster the POV pushed by some on this site that Californians are leaving to escape Blue politics.. Thats a false narrative. Indeed, it’s much more likely that Cali culture is being exported to Texas, Nevada, Florida, etc as part of the migration. Political leanings will change as the migrants get settled in Reddish areas.

The situation is a direct result of failed blue policies

I don't believe for a second that Liberal California Democrats will move to Texas or Florida to help populate the state with Democrats. Those California plates that you see around Florida are California Republicans that are moving due to rediculous taxes and failed Democratic policies. They come here for their freedom!

You mean it spreads...like COVID?
😬

Allied. Listen to that CNBC piece. there’s nothing to support the notion that Cali residents are moving for political reasons. Nonsense.

Crazy stuff, HJ. Leave your bubble and look at reality. Your Florida angle is limited and ignorant as to how other people feel and think.

Not out in the open air on walks and hikes.

In closed environments, eg local grocery stores and inside restaurants, masks are required. I comply. Nobody violates this policy. Nobody. Completely forbidden.

Blue politics are the reason for high taxes and over regulations. They are escaping the results of blue rule.
Complete BS. You are projecting your politics onto others who don’t share your values.

Guys. I know you love the Californians leaving this state. But you are totally delusional that these emigrants are leaving for political reasons. They are normal people seeking:

lower Housing prices
lower taxes
lower regulations if they are small business owners
shorter commutes....remote working is great

To conclude that these migrants are moving from Blue to Red voters for political reasons is delusional. They are bringing Cali values and voting patterns to their new states . Believe it.

No, what is happening in California has absolutely nothing to do with politics. I'm sure it could be great Cortez if you can speak in terms of reason and integrity. You aren't really going to be successful doing that here. Not because of the political views of the people here but because of the type of people that are here. I have been here quite a while. I know.

The Republican party has fallen to the hands of alt right wing, racist, conspiracy theorist that are unable to explain any compressive policy that is viable. This is now a rock fight and most good people that were republicans' have left the party and won't stand with what they believe. A few are left like Romney and Chaney but the problem is they have been villainized.

This political narrative is simply ridiculous. People and companies do what is in their best interest. They don't make these decisions based on politics. That's stupid. I didn't go to school in Florida from Connecticut for political reasons. Why would I move back from CT where it is liberal to GA? Personal reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with politics. People and businesses do what is right for them. The do not weigh in politics. They weigh in their own interest....and live with some things to stand up for other things.

The funny thing is if anyone wants to look up which states actually live off the government more than any other state it is red states. Look it up. They don't pay taxes because they don't charge taxes so they live off the government. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me. Here it is....

You are Delusional, HJ. You just make a conclusion with no facts whatsoever.
The facts speak for themselves. Businesses and people leaving because the "environment" in California is not friendly to them. High taxes (policy) high regulations (policy) high costs in housing, rent, are causing an exodus. I'm not delusional you are. As the video states 18,000 have left the state.

Why are Trump supporters this special needs? Being vaccinated does NOT mean you do not wear a mask.

Either it works or it doesn't it's really that simple. I DO wear a mask in my condominium common areas, elevator etc. but the minute I get outside it's off. Only the liberals want to stay with masks the rest of our lives. Not me. CD are you vaccinated??

If your argument held water, the cost of housing in Cali would be falling due to the exodus out of the state. Quite the opposite is happening: housing demand from those wanting to stay or come to Cali continues to drive up housing prices. It’s a seller’s boom and buyer’s dilemma.

In my immediate neighborhood, there are 24 identical homes built 15 years ago. Six of them were sold in the last 2 months at prices 40% above were they were just 2 years ago. Demand is sky high!

Yes...I have been vaccinated for a month. I have had Covid as well. We should follow CDC Guidelines. It's really that simple. They have relaxed requirements for vaccinated individuals and will continue to do so as more people comply as well as are vaccinated. You are unnecessarily making this a political issue when really it is not at all.

CDC guidelines yet Mr. President that puzzy wears a mask during a freaking zoom call with 15 other world leaders and while walking outside to the podium to tell us we no longer have to wear a mask outside. CDC guidelines which call for schools to be opened yet blue states refuse to listen. CDC guidelines you could wipe your azz with them.

Again, you are making something political unnecessarily. Who cares if the guy wears a mask during a zoom call? How does that affect you or I ? I don't give a shit if he eats dinner through his mask. You are trying to make some lame ass political assesment based on What? Trump got Covid, then got a shot, then told people to pump freaking bleach in their viens....lol.....and you are worried about a dude wearing a mask during a zoom call to leaders?

Completely false narrative. That POV fits your politics. But, it bears no resemblance to reality.
Did you listen to the entire video? Stated very clearly that the policy decisions made by California government over the past couple of decades regarding taxes on individuals and companies has made the state an economic disaster. Super high cost of living in every facet, making it unsustainable for businesses that require employees. Pretty staggering stat that over 53% of residents would like to leave.

289,

Yes, I listened to the whole report.

Without question, high real estate costs, high taxes and long commutes push people to consider leaving Cali. Similarly, small businesses feel the burden of regulation. These are facts.

My beef is with those who interpret this exodus in a way that bolsters their right wing ideology, ie, Californians are now seeing the light and are now moving to Red States as they reject Cali’s Blue State policies. Thats total BS.

The dominant culture in California (approximately 70/30 ratio) believes in several core aspects of the state that will travel with them to their new destinations:

* environmental protection and activism
* ethnic diversity as a positive rather than threatening trend
* immigrants bring talent and a high work ethic to the state
* full support of gay and transgender rights
* outdoor sports of all kinds
* beaches, mountains and deserts
* freedom of and from religion. No fundamentalism please.
* experimentation with new and exotic foods, particularly from Asia
* wine 🍷🍷
* water, no Coke.

Migrating people with these values are not going to vote Red. Rather, they are going to vote Blue. Witness the changing voting patterns in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado. Up next, Texas, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina .

Bottom line: California is on a negative roll with outbound migration. But to assume that these migrants have “seen the light” and are turning Red is a complete misreading of the situation.

Having "seen the light"....not at all.

They are escaping the mess they created with their blue ideology. They are bringing it with them and attempting to consume another state. It's strange they leave though...they have made California exactly the way they want it.

It is ironic. They get the Government controlled liberal utopia they dreamed of, then they bail.
