it I do not like getting into political discussions because politics is complex and requires extensive analysis. Anyway, liberalism, statism, progressivism what ever you want to call it which has created big government has failed the US and its people. Almost every civilization (Toynbee says there are 28) have failed or are in the process of failing. The failure arises mainly from the wasteful dispensation of wealth. The US and all or most of the governments in the world are corrupt and have put the entire financial systems in so much debt that the slightest catastrophe will cause an economic meltdown that we will never recover from. Civilization, as we know it will cease to exist. Liberalism conceptually, with some help from conservatives from time to time, is really at the end of their rope.
Governments are not benign. Governments by their very nature are inept and wasteful. They cause most of the wealth to be lost forever and distributed unevenly especially in the third world countries. Its governments that start all wars and not the people/subjects who are instruments of power for unjust ends.
As far as Obama is concerned, no one, not even historians could possibly judge him at this point. Some have him as one of the worst and there are others have him as high as 17th. As far as I am concerned, it is my sincere belief that every one of his policies will fail in the future and if that happens, he will be judged accordingly.
