CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Wooga Poplar of the University of Miami men’s basketball team will miss this evening’s game against No. 16 Clemson due to an ankle injury.
Poplar is day-to-day and expected to return to action in the coming weeks.
A junior from Philadelphia, Poplar has started all 12 games for the Hurricanes this season and is averaging 16.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest.
The battle between PJ Hall and Norchad Omier is fun to watch. Omier outmuscles Hall for an offensive rebound, resulting in a bucket, then beats him down the floor for an easy score. Omier with 7 points on 3-3 shooting.
Nijel Pack doing a great job of getting in the point and kicking it out to open men, has one assist but if a few makes from open looks would have boosted that stat.
Beautiful shot off the glass at the rim by Pack. He continues to attack. Omier adds another with a nice post move and Miami has a three-point lead with 14:01 to go. Canes on a 7-0 run in last 1:45.
Miami gets to the free throw line for the first time with just under 14 minutes left in the game. Pack gets to the rim, is fouled, and hits two free throws.
Pack on a heater right now. He is the reason Miami is up by five with about 12 minutes to go. He has 19 points on 7-12 shooting also has four rebounds and 3 assists.
