Same here my friend. I'm lucky I live in a conservative area, even though 95% of the people are masked where I shop. I've never worn one since the beginning of this bullshit.

I think what is being said is as an example...if you want to go to the supermarket in Florida to buy food, previous to yesterday, walmart , Publix and Winn Dixie required masks. All political leanings needed to comply with private industry rules if you wanted entrance to their business to buy food. Now in reality, no one from those companies was going to escort you off their property for not wearing a mask however almost all people wore one to be non confrontational. That includes Republican's. I believe that that is an example of where almost everyone complied.

Not at all HJ. I support the Republican Party and vote Republican. However, my take is the Republican Party talks a good game but, to 816's point, backs down when confronted. I see it all the time where I live. I see fellow conservative/Republican friends in an outdoor setting and they are all gung ho about making a statement about the mask bullshit, shut downs, school restrictions, and everything else associated with this stupid pandemic. I tell them I never wear a mask anywhere and they proclaim enthusiastically "neither do I!" Then I see them in Publix or Sams and they are masked up. I call them on it and they sheepishly say "well, we're just playing along" or some such thing. My point is, if you say "this is my position" and you believe it in your heart then dammit, live it.

The point is clear. You can protest masks all you want but if you want to eat you will buy your food at a place that may require you to wear a mask. That doesn't make you a puzzy because you comply, it makes you fight your fight another day when the result is in your favor.

Too scared to not wear a mask. The money quote is fight another day when the odds are in your favor. Like I said Republicans are feckless. You are mixing matters. There is political strength and that includes voters and then there is this pandemic crap where mask wearing and things like that were mandated for a short while. Did I like wearing it? No. Did I wear it in my building and stores? Yes. Was I going to fight about that? No
Look, I pick my fights...wearing a mask was definitely annoying but not worth fighting over. Just different strokes for different folks.
My attitude was simple; If it makes others more comfortable so be it. When in Publix do I know who is receiving chemotherapy for cancer? Who has diabetes? Wasn't too much to ask to try to help keep my spit out of their faces. Now that vaccine is out and available I do feel different.

So you're saying you will wear a mask in the off chance you have the virus and you MIGHT meet someone who has a compromised immune system and you MIGHT throw some spit their way? C'mon...

I think "picking a fight" is being used metaphorically. I choose not to wear a mask because I don't believe it protects anyone. However, I certainly don't go out to "pick a fight" or to convert anyone to my way of thinking. I respect anyone's choice to wear a mask. This "selfish" tag the leftist clones want to put on those of us who take this position is truly laughable.
i know plenty of republicans who voted for Trump in 2020 that think it's selfish for others to not wear a mask during this pandemic. it's not just the left that doesn't want to catch it from some selfish person.
That's a valid argument about sneezing with a mask on. I'll just choose to turn away and sneeze into my elbow. I've done that my entire 62 yr life without killing anyone. But masks don't provide the protection you might think. Just ask Dr. Fauci (see below). But not to fear chevy, you'll have plenty of like minded people around you beating the same drum. 2 weeks from now i won't be wearing a mask. I will have been fully vaccinated.
