Before the season started, there were two MAIN camps (yes, there were others):

  • Camp 1 - Miami WILL go 11-1 and make it to the ACCCG
  • Camp 2 - Miami BETTER go 11-1 / 10-2 with this talent and go to the ACCCG

Miami was favored in 10 or 11 games in the preseason.

So fast forward to a 6-5 Miami team with 1 game left. The SAME Miami team those two camps EXECTED UMiami to beat 10 to 11 of the opponents.

  • This team still has the same talent as they did when these "How will Miami do" threads were started in the offseason.
  • This team has the same amount of experience as they did when these "How will Miami do" threads were started in the offseason.
  • This team still played the same TEAMS as they were expected to when these "How will Miami do" threads were started in the offseason.
So no, Manny Diaz (#FCMD) isn't having the team still motivated and playing together. The talent at Miami has Miami still fighting.

Let's look at our wins:
  • 4 against P5 teams (All ACC teams) by an AVERAGE of 5 points
    • Including a 3-8 GT (by 3 points)
  • 1 win against a G5 App State
    • By 2 points
  • 1 win against the MIGHTY CSSU

Let's look at our losses:
  • Alabama....okay.
  • Michigan State, one of the surprise teams this year...okay....even though this was at HOME and by 21 points
  • A loss to a 5-6 F$U team that lost to Jacksonville State earlier in the year
  • A loss to a 6-5 Virginia team AT HOME
  • A loss to a UNC team that lost to GT, FSU, and VT

Those losses were supposed to be wins. Ask all of the people who do this for a living if this is what they expected in early August.

The wins are by 4.4 points (less CCSU win). Ask all of the people who do this for a living if this was expected.

No, Manny doesn't have the team doing ANYTHING. All the team had to do is lace them up and put their chin straps on and they would be 6-5.

So stop giving Manny Diaz credit for "having this team still playing and fighting". This should have never BEEN a fight.
