Coaching coaching coaching

Yes Alabama was more talented but the reason we lost that badly was coaching.

DEFENSE

I have never liked Diaz. I have never liked his scheme. I have no idea with the striker position does but I don’t like it either. The blitzes come from too far away and are too easily exploited.

Our soft zone is terrible and our man coverage 8 yrds off the ball is worse.

First Bama TD

Hall is a safety. Last line of defense. Comes off Metche who runs behind him and attempts to come up and tackle the QB leaving Metchie wide open. That is a mistake I expect a freshman to make.

Second Bama TD

Young had two guys wide open. The other TE was not covered. Kitchens and Stevenson both blitz and ignore the TE. Young actually threw the ball to the guy who was “covered” by Smith. Game over.

Well coached teams do not have those type of breakdowns in the secondary. If the QB runs for 10 yards and slides so be it. Don’t give up to touchdown deep.

OFFENSE
The strength of Alabama was their front seven. We knew that. The entire country knew that. Yet we game planned to match them. Big mistake. Their are secondary was their weakness and it showed. We had guys open who actually made catches. As many here have said the plan should’ve been to go all out and challenge that secondary.

The play where king is strip sacked was a TD to Harley. He beat his man badly and another second he walks in. At worst it’s a long gain. Why if we plan on taking a deep shots do we not have Max protect on?

Harris comes out of the backfield running a route away from the play and completely ignores Scaife getting beat like a drum around the outside buy one of the best players in the country. If Harris chips him on the backside Harley is wide open down the middle.

Those are three plays of many that caused us to get blown out. Not even gonna mention tackling and the 94yrd pass.

Players who need to sit.
Stevenson
Hall
Jennings
Ivey
Our Dline was non existent.

I was going to add Cam Harris to the list. But after rewatching the game with no sound in slow mo. I noticed that most of his dancing in the backfield is because one of our offense of lineman is getting pushed back into his face. I counted five cuts he made in the backfield and four of them were to get around his own man.

All that said. I actually do not think we should lose again this season. Not with receivers who are going to catch the ball like these guys did yesterday. King played great. He only missed seven passes. Two were was flat out dropped and one by my man X7. Two were interceptions that should not of been. The running game will be better when not facing an NFL Dline.

Lashlee is overrated as a play caller. Scheme looks pretty good though.

Diaz is overrated at everything and scheme is horrible. Baker was the fall guy last year.
