and please offer a viable explanation for how you think we would be a better team with him as our starter. I read your posts and I just shake my head and wonder what is it that you see. He was positively awful last year. Yes, he pulled out the win against a terrible FSU team (on 13 of 32 passing), but if that was the standard for a good QB then Malik would be in be in the hall of fame (see FSU and GT in 2017). He is inconsistent, inaccurate, and turnover prone, and he has had numerous off the field issues. Those are not attributes of a good quarterback. Sure he has a strong arm, but that doesn’t mean much if you can’t throw it to our guys. To be fair, he definitely looked better last week than he did last year.
I have been very impressed with Jarren’s play and am genuinely excited to see our offense on the field. When was the last time you could say that? I realize he had one throw last week that could/should have been intercepted (the other would have required a circus catch and I don’t view that as a “should have been intercepted” pass). But the fact is that he completes passes and has improved each game. Sure, the quality of opponent has dropped each week, but he has started to throw the ball away instead of taking sacks, he has improved his reads, and he has started throwing downfield.
The offensive future is bright with Jarren at QB.
