Three Canes were named
honorable mention All-ACC: Jekiri, McClendon and Rodriguez.
Jekiri was named to
the All-Defensive Team and was second in voting for Most Improved and third for
Defensive Player of the Year. He led the ACC in rebounds and was sixth in
blocked shots. The 7-footer also led the ACC with nine double-doubles in 18
games, notched multiple blocks in six ACC games, and grabbed double-digit
defensive rebounds in three outings. From his sophomore to junior season, he
improved his rebounding by 4.8 per game, points by 5.3 per outing and blocks by
0.5 per game.
McClellan posted the
top shooting percentage in the nation by a guard in a Power 5 conference school
this season, was ninth in the nation among all guards, and 67th in the country
at all positions. He led all ACC guards in shooting percentage, was 16th in the
ACC in scoring and fourth in free throw percentage. This season, McClellan
posted 15 games with 15+ points, a pair of double-doubles, and helped the Canes
to a 13-0 record when he shot 50 percent or better in a game.
Rodriguez finished
the season sixth in the ACC in assists, seventh in steals and eighth in free
throw percentage. He posted an assist in every ACC game, and dished out at
least five in eight games. At Duke and at Syracuse, two of the toughest venues
in the league, Rodriguez averaged 6.5 assists and 4.5 steals to lead the Canes
to a pair of victories. Against Miami's highest ranked opponents, No. 3
Virginia and No. 4 Duke, Rodriguez averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0
rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.
