I’m not sure who’s been worse for the UM program scumbag Shapiro or Billy Corben (from Ft Myers)? While Billy is a talented filmmaker many of you watched The U and believe that building a national title contender was just that easy—that it was all done with thuggery and swag. That is one of the biggest problems with our fan base —their sheer moronic nature and immaturity. Making Miami a champion was a long tedious process (which began with Lou Saban) and it had many roadblocks and challenges. For one, Jimmy Johnson was almost run out of town after a miserable 7-5 inaugural season..a season that include Hail Flutie and losing to Maryland (unranked at the time) at the Orange Bowl after having a 31 point lead at the half. QB Frank Reich (would go on to play in the NFL for the Bills Ironically for Canes fans as Jim Kelly’s back up) led the whacky Terrapins to a win over the Canes who looked hapless.
Again fellas read carefully 6-7 is not wonderful, acceptable nor should the AD and administration stand pat. Firing Enos was the absoulute right thing to do but you cannot fire the head coach after one year because you would be stabbing yourself in the scrotum and losing whatever respect this football program has left—which basing it on our top twenty recruiting class there is still some respect out there. If Manny has an underwhelming season next year then by all means can his ass—but you can’t right now.
As per my comments as to this not being a broken team let’s do a quick review and you tell me if you still think we are broken. Remember we are just getting our sea legs after the schollies taken from us by the NCAA after the Shapiro fiasco. If there is one thing that I agreed with Al Golden about was when he would speak about the lack of symmetry and depth of our roster at that time (This was a result of complacency and horrific decisions made under Randy Shannon and Larry “Ichabod Crane” Coker), Today, thanks in large part to Mark Richt and Manny Diaz our roster is much stronger . You could reasonably highlight a deficiency in coaching because our team is now chock full of talent again. So let’s keep Manny and company on a short leash. Let’s make sure they understand what results and goals are expected next year and the fact that there is a sense of urgency within our Board of Trutees and fan base which means they need to demonstrate some of that sense of urgency as well. Before I review our roster let me just say that when an offensive or defensive line struggle a team can look much worse than they really are. Let me also say that J Williams and N’kosi Perry have not performed up to standards consistently. I’m interested as to who they hire as Offensive coordinator/ qb coach because that will be critical to our development of offense here.
My final comment about our existing roster is that it is very young, however improvements need to be made via player development which has not been a forte at UM for quite some time. Let’s review next year’s squad and you tell me if it sounds like a talentless, broken team.
QB Tyler Van Dyke was an excellent draft choice And the other three all come back with a ton of experience.
RB Lingard, Harris, Chaney and Our two new recruits Chaney And Knighton. All recruited by top flight, national championship contending teams.
The Oline comes back in its entirety. Gaynor, Scaife, Donaldson, Zion Nelson and incoming freshman Jalen Rivers all promise to be very improved
WR there’s Pope, Hartley, Dee Wiggins plus the incoming class. And at Tight end you will have Jordan and Mallory back...Now you tell me there is no talent there?
On the defensive side there’s much more talent. D-Line is Stacked! Greg Rousseau and Matt Patchan return plus there’s Jaelan Phillips, Jon Ford, Nesta Silva, Jalar Holley, Jordan Miller, Jason Blissett and a couple of promising youngsters coming in.
Our linebackers returning are Frierson, Brooks, McCloud, Joyner, and Huff plus two outstanding incoming recruits.
Secondary is also full of talent returning. Blades, DJ Ivey, Bubba Bolden, Gurvan Hall, Christian Williams, Amari Carter...rest my case chock full of talent.
Folks you really think this is a bad or broken roster that can’t be repaired? Your Nuts if you do or you’re simply overreacting to a horrific skid at the end of the season.
