The Fix: A New National Plan

We have an option. Through federal leadership and guidance, we could bring our entire nation towards a level of containment sufficient to safely open schools, colleges, and even host sporting events. We could return Americans safely to the workplace.

To do this by October 1 we now need to do the following:

Shape a national plan with an objective of a national level of containment.

Some experts benchmark containment as one case per million residents per day, but we might select less strict criteria.

Upon achieving this level, it would be possible to reopen schools, colleges, and businesses safely, provided a full and functioning health system is in place.

With containment, contact tracing actually becomes feasible, whereas this is not the case currently across most of the nation.

Each state would either agree or be required to meet that containment benchmark.

Some of these states, such as those in northern New England (NH VT ME) might already be close to that level. Others, such as FL TX AZ may require aggressive stay-at-home measures.

Starting October 1, we could begin a national re-opening for schools, colleges, and even outdoor high school (“Friday Night Lights”), collegiate and professional sports.

We have few choices
Doing nothing or continuing a strategy based on states in the lead will only invite further tragedy. By late in the fall every American will personally know someone who is severely ill or hospitalized with COVID19. Hospitals across America will be overrun, hospital personnel will become sick in droves, and we might experience 300,000 deaths by the end of 2020. Moreover, we won’t have a safe and effective COVID19 vaccine anytime soon. My earliest timetable is the middle of 2021, and even then, that timeframe would be a world land speed record.

This will become one of the most unstable times in the history in the United States.

Implementing the October 1 plan will force America to make some difficult choices, but none as devastating as the mounting deaths if we choose to simply stay the course.

Perfecting timing from the village idiot. We already passed the peak, stop crying wolf.

Report: 2/3 of Palm Beach, Fla. COVID deaths had underlying causes

UPDATED 3:25 PM PT — Friday, July 24, 2020

According to one Florida county news team, hundreds of coronavirus deaths have been erroneously reported and were caused by other factors. In a new report, the team noted cases in state were trending down, but have now gone up in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade.

The team reportedly found that the medical examiners in Palm Beach listed people as dying from coronavirus, despite evidence showing they clearly died of other causes.

This included a 90-year-old man, who died from complications of a hip fracture, and a 60-year-old man, who died of a gunshot wound to the head.

“I understand that maybe they want to be safe in counting those numbers initially, but we are four, five months in. We have more information, we have that data. We need to remove the COVID cases that are not exclusively COVID, and we need to be giving people that information.” – Rachel Eade, Palm Beach County resident

Of the 518 deaths attributed to the coronavirus, only 169 could be listed as caused by COVID-19 without other contributing illnesses.

The medical examiner’s office reportedly admitted there were errors and have said they are working to remove the “erroneous deaths.”

On A Lighter Note, the tanks are tied for 1st place in the AL East as we continue to open the country.

Total BS. Stay at home order. Enough with the hysteria Mike.

My thoughts are that if a death is clearly not covid related it shouldn't be reported as such. For example the gunshot victim being reported as Covid simply shouldn't be done. However I also don't believe we should discount all people who have died from covid that had underlying conditions. There are millions of people that have chronic lifelong illnesses that are at higher risk of death from covid. They should absolutely be counted since they likely would not have died when they did if they hadn't contracted the virus.

I'll also say yet again that you guys are desperately looking for ways to attack the data because the data doesn't say what you desperately want it to say. What you want it to say is that it's no big deal and Trump has done a great job managing this pandemic. The numbers don't support your arguments and you can continue to attack imperfections in the numbers but the facts remain that we have the most cases and deaths in the world and there are many countries that have done much better managing this thing despite having fewer resources.

Shhhhhhh just stay in your basement!

With how often you mention basements I'm starting to think you live in one. Wouldn't surprise me given how dumb you are. Still think it's a good idea to infect the whole team with covid or have you moved on from that genius suggestion?

Good thing Doctors are not in charge. This is why they are advisors, like lawyers.

Guess you do think it's still a good idea. Got it.

The fact this country has not implemented a national plan of action to combat a world pandemic is frankly inexcusable.

Then to go weeks without any taskforce updates. While people are losing their jobs, getting sick and dying.

I have screamed at the top of my lungs electing Trump would be an unmitigated disaster. He proves me right every single day since.
