While I like Joe Yearby and Mark Walton. They both have pluses and minuses. Same with Gus Edwards. Yearby, cuts well, reads his blocks well, but he lacks break away speed and it shows any time he tries to bounce outside. He has been very ineffective in many games. Mark Walton is solid, but not spectacular, doesn't have as much wiggle and ability to make a player miss like Yearby. Gus Edwards is also solid, good speed, runs tough, reads blocks well, he may be better than the other two. I don't think he has the wiggle and change of direction ability you want. But he may be very effective.

My concerning thoughts are regarding Trayone Gray. He was not a true RB in HS and he lacked experience. Pad level and some other basic things. But, I think he's progressed immensely. I do not see practices, so I can not be sure. But I've wondered all season, especially after watching him score against NC and the 2 runs prior. He is clearly faster than Walton and Yearby, he's bigger, and stronger, and has just as much wiggle and elusiveness as the others. I think he is clearly the best back. And I feel like good Coaches recognize things like this (Butch Davis). For example, Russel Wilson was never expect to start over Matt Flynn as a Rookie...Pete Carrol recognized what he had, no one else predicted that. (I did by the way, thought he was the best QB coming out that year). I remember when the Dolphins started 5'11 Zack Thomas at MLB as a rookie over a talented Jack Del Rio.
