I actually agree with you on the premise that teaching a child who is white that they are inherently racist or the oppressors of anyone, or teaching black children that they are victims of white oppressors, is wrong. However, this country's history and ALL of it should be taught to all students in this country, and should that cast a negative light on ANY race for that time period, so be it. It shouldn't be omitted or sugar coated for the sake of our children's understanding.
And as I've said before, children aren't born racist or bigots, they get taught this behavior in most cases by their parents. So it's incumbent upon the parents to teach the kids to respect ALL people regardless of the differences. We're not going to always "love" one another, and I don't think that's required, but respect and FAIR and EQUAL treatment, of everyone is.
