Great post. Facts are a stubborn thing. Can someone please remind me why anyone should care what the NYT has to say. And even more importantly why anyone ever should believe a NYT FACT CHECKER?

Beyond the screwing up of outlet names, the Time magazine person of the year cover is for a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year", which obviously means it can have good or bad people on the cover.

NYT quotes WAPO, who quotes CNN, who quotes The Atlantic, who quotes Time who quotes MSNBC, who quotes NBC who quotes ABC, who quotes un named DNC sources. With that resume the NYT and its fact checkers should be viewed as 100% the gold standard of truth.

As a conservative, I formally send Cashville to bed early with no milk and cookies (Kinda like the FISA judge did with the FBI agent that falsified evidence to a FISA judge). For your confusing which liberal fish wrap chose Hitler as its man of the year. Both rags still exist and both are less credible than ever.

And BTW, Time Magazine also had a story in 1633 suporting how the prevailing government, the Pope (I think it was Pope Joe I) at the time agreed that Galileo was guilty of misinformation about the Earth circling the Sun in contrast to the Pope's most trusted Scienist, Antonious Faucious.

No I do not think it would fly in present times. But the 1930s and 1940s were obviously a very long time ago. They did thee same thing with Khomeini in the 70s IIRC. There would be an outcry if it happened today.
