theres been a lot posted in the last couple days about defensive personnel, specifically packages we could use. When I think of the front 7 studs I want on the field (yes, based mostly on potential): I want Thomas, AQM, Jackson, Moten, McCord, Kamalu, Grace, Owens, Kirby, Hertelou, Jenkins, and Carter all on the field. Obviously they will not all play at the same time. However this is the first year I have felt we have real attractive options we can mix up instead of only having 7-8 guys who are all we have that's worth a damn. Not a single one of the guys I mentioned are true freshman which is also a change.
I am of the believe that this team will be better because there is more top to bottom depth, despite the loss of star power. If the coaches call the defense like they did during from Cincy to halftime of FSU we have the ability to be a very solid D. I don't blame anyone who calls this blind optimism because it might be, but I just get a better feeling when I look at the roster this year.
