What are we thinking about the near future state of this program? Consistently in the 7-8 win category hoping that we get enough bounces and breaks to go our way to get a 10 win season every 2 or 3 seasons? Top 15ish recruiting class, whiffing on the elite South Florida talent to UGA and Bama? Just embracing mediocrity full stop?
Or is there any hope at all that we are actually going to be elite any time soon? Or is that just a ridiculously insane idea?
One thing I think Gary could do around here is to help set expectations, and not in his usual long-winded way in those columns that are just TL;DR. But simple, concise, clear statements, like - "Fellas....we are mediocre and that's reality. We are going to be in a log jam with the likes of UVA, UNC and Va Tech every year in dog fights to hope we can win the Coastal. Talk of national championship or playoff glory? Just forget about it."
