Pretty candid ...
Here you go:
With coach Manny Diaz taking on more of a role on defense, Carter was asked what it’s like having Diaz back more with the defense this week and if he’s noticed a difference.
“Coach Diaz was coordinator for the years prior - coach (Blake) Baker is still the D coordinator,” Carter said. “It’s a little more communication but I wouldn’t say there’s a falloff with him being here or when he was more with the offense. It’s pretty much the same thing. Coach Baker does a great job with his job. I can’t knock him for anything he’s done. Coach Baker is very capable of doing his job and coach Diaz is very capable of doing his job as the head coach or if he has step in more on the offense side, defense side. We’re comfortable with whoever is coaching us.”
Asked if there is an example of how Diaz has been more involved on defense this week, Carter said, “Nothing, everything is still the same. There’s really nothing he’s added. Coach Baker does a great job doing his job, and coach Diaz, when coach Baker came he picked up what coach Diaz was doing as D coordinator. We’re just running to the ball, straining to the ball and being urgent. That’s all we can do. We know what we’re doing and we have to run to the ball and tackle.”
