Be prepared for the idiots to come raging
Seriously you should look in a mirror... The economy is in shambles. The fed govt has grossly over-reached & now even the SCOTUS has quite pointedly shown the President he's violating the Constitution by the crazy appointments he's made. The guy doesn't respect what America was founded on & is trying to turn us into something that's been proven over & over not to work. By the way... Gas prices are $3.69 a gallon here but hell call the White House because I'm sure they can find some more red tape to hit the $5 mark. Do you like all the scandals that have occurred under his watch? Typical Chicago politics brought to the White House.
Bam!!! there you go Karen the #2 board idiot.

What you have done here is exactly what this Administration has geared its decision making & policy towards. Making numbers have an "appearance" to make them look like they are doing the right thing. In some instances, (most notably the formula for job percentages) they have even gotten rid of some elements/variable in order not to look as bad as it has been. Don't get me wrong, positive news is positive news but never read into them too much, hell even when they are good numbers they aren't anywhere near what should be acceptable or at the least even effective towards a prosperous U.S. Get your head out of your a**.

Let's take partisan politics out of this for a second because obviously you're a liberal democrat. That's fine. ITS BEEN 6 DAMN YEARS!!! STOP BLAMING BUSH! Bush & congress didn't cause the IRS scandal, Bush & Congress didn't cause Benghazi, Bush & Congress didn't continue to spend trillions of dollars post inauguration 2009!

fact: Obama has frozen the country's ability to protect the borders, he's obstructed the facilitation of natural resource development, he has allowed the EPA, IRS & fed govt to run amuck. Go back read & comprehend the US constitution and get back to me.

The stock market performance has nothing to do with the President or congress and everything to do with the fed continuously printing money which ends up going into the stock market. Based on economic growth and income growth (or lack thereof) the stock market has no business being anywhere near this level. That's why I keep stop loss orders open on everything and keep bumping them up. When fed policy changes, the market is going to crash quickly.

This is a money post.

Great advice for those interested.

No rerun or Karen comments yet. Are my right wing friends becoming more civil? Say it ain't so.

You obviously don't have any reading comprehension skills. Where did I say anywhere that Judge Judy was an economist? I commented that Karem had misunderstood Advarkas' point. As an aside, I mentioned that I have a problem with the people that scam the "safety net" system. I said that if you watch a few episodes of Judge Judy, you will see evidence of these scammers. My comment had nothing to do with economics.

FACT: More people died in the Iraq war than were killed on 9/11. Also cost taxpayers over $6 Trillion.
FACT: No other President in the history of the US has had to deal with such an uncooperative Congress. Congress has their lowest approval rating EVER. Also have used the filibuster more times than any other time in history.
FACT: Before he even took office, there were a number of folks on the right who vowed to obstruct everything he tried to do.

He's had the least amount of judicial nominations and the lowest amount confirmed. Just to show you how much the other side is cooperating with him, here are some numbers. Carter 91%, Regan 93%, Bush I, 79%, Clinton 84%, Bush II, 86% and wait for it, Obama 43%.

It's not all on the President, whether it's Bush or Obama. You can't do squat without Congress and this is by far one of the worse.

NOMINATIONS would actually have to be confirmed. He's been appointing them by executive order so he can bring in his ideal people who agree with his every whim. That is not democracy & it's unconstitutional! So I guess you're cool with communism because that's what this is man! You don't like democracy, don't live here! Russia would gladly accept you. By the way how many of those other "nominations" were by executive order? ZERO

So now we are to judge the performance of our presidents based on our 401 performance.......brilliant.

Rather than point out what I respond to with my membership here, why don't you try to focus on the subject. You are rambling. The thread didn't mention healthcare. I didn't mention tips. It didn't mention foreign policy. It is about the 401K. I don't agree with every Obama policy. I don't agree with everything AG does. What is your point? Stick on topic. The Dow hit 17000. Comment on it or a response to it. Leave the other unimportant personel nonsense out of it.

Amen brother, just be sure not to question the king or you'll be called an idiot or a racist. And I never get over the Fox talking points nonsense coming from those spouting the talking points of every other news outlet. Would be nice if we could just respect each others legitimately held opinions, but that does not jibe with the thought police. Can't even have one news outlet with an opposing view. Yeah, things are going great around here...

Kerem and CD and others great job holding off the forces of ignorance who get their view from Rupert Murdoch's right wing rabble. But really the ignorance is hilarious no need to get angry at people for being stupid.
Just back to report Dow closed at a fantabulous record of 17,068.26! Per the Wall street Journal, this came about due to a rosey jobs report just released earlier today.

W, a Yale cheerleader, left us at 8,000; Obama, Editor of Harvard Law Review, has brought us back from the brink of W's Depression, to record employment and record setting stock gains. Brains matter people!
All Hail Zod, I mean, President Obama.
Thank you sir. Mission almost accomplished.

Are you serious? Really?

Nominations have to be confirmed, that is true; however, no other President had as many nominations challenged. Typically both chambers have given the President his pick regarding nominations. The percentages I've given you are the percentages those President's had confirmed. Its ridiculous to see that he's had 43% confirmed while just about everyone else is at 80% or higher.

No other President has faced as many filibusters. Whether you agree with his ideology is one thing. The people as you say, We the People, voted and he won a 2nd term fair and square. Just because one party loses, that doesn't give them the right to block every legislation of the party that won, especially when the majority voted for it.

As far as executive orders, Bush passed 291 through both terms. So far Obama has passed 182. Was it unconstitutional and communist when Bush did it. I'm just curious?

As far as the names of Republicans who vow to block everything he did, you either have short term memory or selective memory. I'm not even an Obama fan; however, I've never seen a Congress that was so uncooperative with any President.

M. McConnell stated on the President's 1st day in office, that the Republican's #1 job was to prevent him from being re-elected. How do they do that? Preventing his legislation from succeeding. Read the Draper Report and the right's plan with high ranking officials to obstruct all legislation. Draper is a Republican.

It sucks, I don't care what side of the aisle you are on. Everybody loses when nothing gets done and that's what is happening. In addition,

Spot on Varkas …This guy is so full of it,it's not even funny…Maybe he should go back to Cuba where they have what he preaches and see how long he lasts over there..The most prosperous latin country ,converted into a poor country like Haiti by socio/communism.
By the way ,i'm presently in Spain and this beautiful country was turned to shytt by the the socio/communist Zapatero …Half a million young Spaniards have left the country to look for work and yes quite a few have gone to Germany , basically the only European country doing well.(in the European union.)
If you think the United States is a socialist country, please stay in Spain. You aren't bright enough to know what socialism is. If you think 1/3 on the country just decided to get on some sort of entitlement program in the last 8 years, I got a bridge in the middle of N.Dakota, I'd love to sell you. Germany collects the highest taxes in the Western World, it's average is 50%, whereas, America is about 29%. Do you know how many people would piss a fit if taxes rates rose to that level in the US. Germany also takes care of it's people by spending about 30% on sick, unemployed, those in need and the elderly. By compairson the US spends about 18%. Sounds like they may be a little more socialist then the US and I've lived there. There is still a reason that everyone wants to come to the US.

Yeah, the reason everyone still wants to come here is that we're not Germany, or worse, France...yet...

The stock market shooting up this high, this fast, is actually a bad thing.

When this occurs it's due primarily to the result of small business going out of business (or suffering) at a crippling rate. The stock market is a measure of large corporations. In an economy that has suffered so many years, the reason the stock market can go up is because, even though the economy struggles and national sales are down, the big business are absorbing the losses of small business establishments. Which is actually very bad for the job market and overall growth of the nation.

The actions of the President has crippled and hampered many small businesses, leading to the result of the actions of the stock market. So it's ironic (and comical) that someone in support of the President points to the stock market as an indication of his time in the office.
