By a mile has the most talent that Mark has had to work with since being here. We've got youth but with that youth are some of the best players so, they should make the upper classmen play their azzes off. And if they can come together & Mark will just finally realize what he has and stop all that 2 gap BS every game, I can see real potential here.
We will know right off the bat if Melvin is worth anything & getting his say so on the D side.
Jelani? Man, this dude should be ready to cut loose and finally start playing like a CANE DL. His former team mate in Moten? He's got the talent to have a successful career here. And Jenkins who I remember when we were recruiting him how the board talked about how good he can be and I believe it too. As GARY pointed out ,Moore should be good against the run as should Wyche & if they can demand double teams on a consistent basis? AQM-Chad & McCoord are gonna tear some azz out the frame & My God what a welcome site it would be.And if we can finally catch a break & Willis is allowed to play? Well hell, that really takes this DL to a whole different level and we could be 1 of the best in the ACC. Miami hasn't recruited what you would call elite or even very good DT Classes but having said that-If they are coached up right, allowed to do what the hell they were recruited to do, this bunch has the talent to take over games and get our Offense the ball on a regular basis with a lot more 3 & outs & even turn overs. Kamulu & Huertelu both have the talent to make an Offensive line work hard & if Mark can become a game time coach & sees this during the game, our LB's & DB's can make a lot of noise in the backfield with either sacks-hurries - TFL's & CAUSING INT's WITH THEIR PRESSURE.
I have to admit-I am excited about this group but, I am not gonna get all the way out there & start talking it up because of Mark & his BS Philosophy. Even if we come out the gate strong & pull off the Nebraska win, that will be big for us but, how long will it take for Mark to convert back to the same ole BS ? Become as predictable as you can see a D Coord or will Melvin step in & have the say so to put a stop to that BS before it gets out of hand. IMO- For this Defense to be anywhere close to it's potential-Melvin has to have a voice & if this DL finally starts to get down like the talent that is here and not be caged or held back? That ranking we got on the D side last year can be for real this year and not just a ballooned #. It all starts up front & we need them to be as good as they can to take some of the pressure off our LB's & if that happens? We do have the talent at LB for them to clean up tackles at the LOS with some force & DB's too. We got some slobber knockers on this team-it''s just finally come down to let these kids play with their talents & instincts and quit trying to make everything so complicated & restraining them. It can be a hell of a year over there but as I said up top-"I am gonna reserve myself until I see if Melvin is getting any say so or is it Mark & his weak azz BS again every week.
