I will continue to believe in Manny and his abilities as a head coach. Will not be a prisoner of the moment. That being said, he has assembled and retained a very average coaching staff. The notion that we had 10 days before North Carolina, and 2 weeks before this game, and still came out unprepared, dazed and confused in both games is alarming. I know Manny is learning on the job, and that's why he needs some veteran help. Too many young coaches on this staff.
Offensively:
1. Enos has a system and seems to run it regardless of personnel. BAD! You cant run play action when you can't run the ball. If your Oline is not good enough to consistently dominate the line of scrimmage, you have to adapt. We are not Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Bama and will not be able to recruit that type of lineman to run this offense. What guy Randy, Golden and CMR fired or having to resign were hiring the wrong assistants and running the wrong schemes. Randy (Patrick Nix,Whipple, etc) Golden (MDNOFRIO) and CMR (his son). Enos is a good coach, just not the right fit here. He should be in NFL or head coaching in the MAC or Mountain West (Mike Bobo type).
Manny if you are listening, please please please at year's end, hire the best OC spread coach available and take advantage of the type of speed and athleticism we have in our high schools in South Florida. Just look at UCF, and we would be 5x better on offense if we ran that system. Bottom Line:look what LSu offense looks like now.
We have not had a NFL caliber QB since Vinny (33 years ago) and have not had a good offensive line in 20 years. GO TO THE SPREAD!!!
Defense:
Forget Baker, he is running Manny's system which frankly won't consistently beat good teams. The system is too predictable, and is predicated on getting turnovers and giving up big plays in the run and pass. We have some weak links coaching (Patke, Banda, Baker) but we can get better with some veteran coaches. More worried about Offense than Defense.
