Honestly I was disappointed more that he fumbled the punt than I was that he dropped a difficult catch. I also understand that this board is unforgiving after a tough loss.
The reality is that the kid is one of ours and has been on the field since day one
I honestly think that JT, going all the way back to high school and beyond, has been annointed as a superstar.
He has prbly never been a goat for something the he has done on the field; he has been for things he has done off the field.
But this is different!!! The kid who has been told he was an NFL player since HS; been touted as the best player in the team b4 he showed up at Greentree and told he was a top three Reciever in the nation despite him never even being the most productive Reciever on his team, has been humbled.
Two ways to go for the kid now. Either go Ed Reed or Santana Moss both of whom made critical mistakes that caused us a Prime Time game.
Or Lance Leggette or Stacy Coley as guys that showed up with hope and confidence just to face some adversity and wilt due loss of said confidence and fan pressure.
JT has the talent!!! Does he have the intestinal fortitude to allow this humbling game to let him block out the noise, bad and good noise, and use this as fuel to become more than talent.
Or does he wilt after hearing people call him a bust and worse for the first time since he was playing Sandlot Football.
Any real fan would hope that it's the former. I honestly believe that this team can win all of its remaining game if it doesn't lose the intensity that it displayed Saturday.
The thing is though if we are going to play with the big boys and be dynamic as we can be JT has to be the man. He is the only WR on the team that has proven that he can change the game force defensive coaches to make adjustments.
That being said I hope he realizes his role puts his head down and work being consistent opposed to an All American one one play and third team All Rec. League on the next, and give Canesking ammo to talk trash throughout the entire off-season .
